Artist Rina's first solo exhibition, "The Pulse of Food - The Pulse of Food -," entirely produced by herself, will be held at Gallery SASAKI (Chuo-ku, Osaka) from June 18 (Thursday) to June 29 (Monday), 2026.

Rina has been active as a food photographer for 10 years.
Through her experiences, she began to question whether the inherent passion and vitality of "food" could be fully conveyed within the confines of advertising expression.

Driven by this inquiry, she seriously began art production in 2024.
This exhibition presents the current state of her philosophy.

Living organism I / 2024

"Food is life itself."

Since childhood, Rina has continuously grappled with the question, "What does it mean to live?"
Amidst a sense of incongruity with her surroundings, she spent her days contemplating her own existence and the meaning of life.

Later, encounters with confectionery and bread-making led her to experience intense immersion for the first time, and "food" transformed into something of great significance to her. Eventually, she picked up a camera as a means to convey its charm, and her consciousness gradually shifted from "making and then photographing" to "making in order to photograph," becoming deeply engrossed in photography as a form of expression.

However, when she started working as a boulanger, she encountered the overwhelming deliciousness of food and the passion of artisans, facing the reality that these were not adequately conveyed through visual expression. Despite food inherently having the power to move people's hearts, was it being lost in photographs? This conflict led her to decide to live as a food photographer.

Since then, Rina has continued to observe the essential value inherent in "food."
The power of ingredients nurtured by producers, the philosophy and background that chefs put into a single dish.

Through confronting these, she arrived at the idea that "food is life itself."

"The Pulse of Food - The Pulse of Food -"

Rina has recently begun her artistic activities in earnest, transcending her role as a food photographer, and has been creating works centered on the concept of "eroticism of thought."

"Eroticism of thought" refers to the impulse = desire to keep thinking, driven by the urge to touch the essence of life, and is an attempt to approach life and existence itself through food.

"Humans each have their own roles, living through learning and experience, and eventually connecting to the next."
"Living is not a solitary event, but part of a constantly circulating 'cycle.'"

Rina, who has consistently confronted the question "What does it mean to live?" throughout her life, has arrived at this philosophy. She perceives "food" as the most embodiment of this concept of "cycle."
Food is the act of receiving life and connecting to new life, existing within the continuous cycle of "life and death."
Rina's works visually express this state of the cycle of life through food, bringing a sense of touching the essence of life itself, not just mere beauty.

This exhibition is not just about appreciating photographs; it is structured to allow each viewer to experience "food" through the works, the space, and the entire environment.

By experiencing food not just as something to "see" but as something to "feel," each viewer will have the opportunity to re-examine the emotions, encounters, and the meaning of life found in the everyday act of "food."

◆Fully Reserved Collaboration Event

During the exhibition period, collaboration events will be held with chefs and ceramic artists who resonate with Rina's artistic world.
Under a premium theme that only a limited number of people can experience, it will be a special opportunity to experience the vitality of food, the theme of this exhibition, by not only "seeing" but also actually "tasting and touching" food.
