Doshin EC Inc. Donates 5 Million Yen to Hokkaido University to Advance Tourism DX and Global Talent Development

Doshin EC Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Seishi Teramachi) has donated 5 million yen to Hokkaido University. This contribution aims to strengthen the international competitiveness of Hokkaido's tourism industry and foster the next generation of tourism professionals.

On May 27, 2026, an appreciation ceremony was held at Hokkaido University, where President Kiyohiro Houkin presented a certificate of appreciation to the company.

This donation will promote international research, human resource development, and data utilization in the Tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sectors. It aims to establish a new tourism model originating from Hokkaido for the global stage.

Utilization of the Donation

The funds will support the development of the "ICDES (International Conference on Destination, Events, and Sports)," an international conference co-founded by Hokkaido University and the University of Central Florida (USA), along with the following areas:

・Support for the advancement of the international tourism conference "ICDES" ・Cultivation of tourism management talent ・Analysis of tourism big data ・Research on AI-driven tourism demand forecasting

ICDES was established in 2025 as a cross-disciplinary academic conference covering tourism, events, and sports. The next conference is scheduled for June 2027 in Milan, Italy.

Industry-Academia Collaboration with Hokkaido University

Doshin EC will contribute to the sustainable development of Hokkaido tourism by fusing its practical expertise gained through MICE operations and tourism-related projects with Hokkaido University’s research capabilities.

The partnership will specifically strengthen collaboration in fields such as: - Attraction of international conferences and academic societies - Tourism Digital Transformation (DX) - AI and Data Analysis - Global talent cultivation - Regional tourism strategy
