CROSS SYNC Inc. (Headquarters: Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama; President and CEO: Masami Tanaka; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce the new implementation of a remote ICU utilizing "iBSEN DX," provided by the Company.
[Remote ICU Established Across 3 Hospitals, Totaling 30 Beds]
Remote ICU operations to provide real-time support for the treatment of critically ill patients have commenced among four hospitals: Jichi Medical University Saitama Medical Center (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture), Japan Sea General Hospital (Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture), Ageo Central General Hospital (Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture), and Toda Chuo General Hospital (Toda City, Saitama Prefecture).
Jichi Medical University Saitama Medical Center serves as the Hub facility, providing 24-hour remote support from its in-house remote ICU support center to the three Spoke facilities.
This operation is the largest of its kind in Japan for a remote ICU that complies with the Remote ICU Support for Critical Care Units add-on payment. (※As of April 2026, according to CROSS SYNC Inc. research)
This remote ICU, forming a "Hub & Spoke" system using "iBSEN DX," marks the fourth such case in Japan.
[CROSS SYNC Responsible for System Implementation and Operational Support]
Remote ICU requires collaboration among multiple hospitals. It enables intensivists and nurses to support the bedside medical team from a distance, both clinically and in terms of nursing care, by sharing information such as vital signs monitors, video, and electronic health records in real-time.
In Japan, this is gaining attention as a new form of inter-hospital collaboration where one medical institution supports multiple others.
When establishing a remote ICU, not only is system implementation crucial, but creating an operational framework for "how to operate across multiple hospitals" is also extremely important.
CROSS SYNC Inc. provided support to ensure a smooth operation for this remote ICU construction.
To establish a 24-hour support system, we supported the creation of manuals tailored to the operational workflows of each Spoke facility, in consultation with the Hub facility. We provided support to the four hospitals, covering everything from an overview of the remote ICU, establishment of the operational structure, identification of challenges and support needs, design of the support model, setting of target KPIs, to operational training. We will continue to provide support, including regular KPI management and sharing of improvement points.
