This lecture was conducted as part of the comprehensive industry-academia collaboration agreement between our group company, CAC, and the Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science.

Yuuhi Kimura, head of our LLMO consulting business "Lumicite," spoke and explained marketing strategies for companies and individuals to be "chosen" by AI amidst the trend of search shifting from "searching" to "asking AI," using examples of AI that students encounter in their daily lives.

Lecture Title: "AI Around You"

Background: Search Shifts from "Searching" to "Asking" - The LLMO Now Required

With the spread of generative AI such as ChatGPT and Gemini, the entry point for users to access information is rapidly diversifying from the previous "Google dominance" to "Google / SNS / Generative AI." Users who used to compare links in search results themselves are now directly asking AI and acting on the "single answer" chosen by AI.

This change poses a fundamental question for corporate marketing. Unlike the SEO era where a certain amount of traffic could be expected even with lower search rankings, if a company or service is not cited or recommended by AI, it risks becoming "as if it doesn't exist." In this context, "LLMO (Large Language Model Optimization)" for "being chosen and recommended by AI" is gaining attention. While there are also terms like GEO, AEO, and AIO, the essence of "making efforts to be chosen by AI" is common to all.

Lecture Key Points: To Be "First Recalled" by AI

Through demonstrations such as posing the same question to Google and ChatGPT, the lecture explained the mechanism by which AI generates answers and the importance of "how companies are perceived by AI." As the core of LLMO, Lumicite presents the following concepts:

● Companies not correctly represented on the web are virtually non-existent to AI

AI learns text from the web and statistically generates the "most plausible answer." Therefore, if a company's information is not correctly organized and disseminated on the web, it will not appear in AI's responses.

● AI understands "entities" rather than "words"

AI understands companies and products as "entities" where names are linked to attributes, through connections of attributes (knowledge graphs). The higher the resolution of a brand's strengths, the more likely it is to be "first recalled" by AI in specific contexts.

● Not just large corporations, but local and small businesses can win

With unique strengths relevant to the context, AI will choose businesses regardless of their size. It was shown that technology and research originating from Nagasaki, as well as students' own activities, have the potential to be "discovered" by global AI if communicated correctly.

LLMO Support Provided by Lumicite

Lumicite provides integrated marketing support for companies to be cited and recommended by AI, from upstream design to execution.

Current Status Analysis: Diagnosing how AI perceives the company from a knowledge graph perspective

Positioning Strategy Design: Designing in which contexts to achieve "first recall"

Integrated Marketing Execution: Cross-cutting execution of SEO/MEO, content, SNS/PR, structured data, etc.

The use of AI search is rapidly expanding, and the market is still in the "blue ocean" stage. Companies that take the lead now have a better chance of achieving "first recall" in various contexts.
