Braveridge Launches New '+Beacon' Product Series Adding New Value to Beacons

Braveridge Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; Representative Director: Yasunari Kohashi; hereinafter 'Braveridge') will begin sales of its new product series '+Beacon' on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, which adds new functions to beacons. The first product, '+Beacon Button', and the second product, '+Beacon Environmental Sensor', will start accepting orders on the same day.

■ Development Background

Traditional beacons are small wireless terminals that periodically transmit Bluetooth® signals, primarily used for detecting the location or presence of objects and people. However, on-site needs have emerged, such as 'wanting to manually notify event occurrences via button operations' or 'wanting to collect environmental data.' Additionally, setting up (kitting) a large number of units has been a time-consuming challenge.

The +Beacon series was developed to meet these needs. While retaining the original beacon functions, it adds features like buttons and environmental sensors. By simply integrating them into existing beacon systems, the possibilities of beacon-based services expand.

■ Features of the +Beacon Series

1. Transforming Existing Beacon Services

It can transmit physical button operation inputs as beacon signals, or incorporate environmental data such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and illuminance into beacon signals. Without changing the existing beacon system structure, new uses such as environmental data logging, threshold alerts, and button-based calls become possible.

2. Fastest Kitting with NFC

Various parameter settings are possible via Bluetooth® or NFC (Near Field Communication). Using a dedicated smartphone app for settings, all configurations can be done quickly via NFC. Even when deploying a large number of units, the kitting time per unit can be significantly reduced.

3. Waterproof Design, Replaceable Battery

All products in the series have an IPX5 equivalent waterproof rating and an operating temperature range of -10°C to +60°C, making them suitable for various indoor and outdoor installation environments. They use a coin-type lithium battery (CR2450), allowing for long-term operation with battery replacement. Firmware updates via Bluetooth® LE (DFU) are also supported.

4. Safe and Secure Made in Japan

Planning, design, and development are carried out at Braveridge's headquarters in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and manufacturing is done at Braveridge's Itoshima Plant in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Domestic production ensures stable quality and supply, allowing for reliable use in service operations.

+Beacon Environmental Sensor PB-ENV-01

Adds an environmental sensor to the beacon.

Acquires four types of environmental data: temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and illuminance, and transmits them as beacon signals.

Equipped with two operation modes: 'Regular Measurement Communication Mode' which periodically transmits measured values, and 'Threshold Detection Mode' which issues an alert when a set threshold is exceeded.
