AMARENA Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Hiroyuki Ueno) is launching a new culture platform, "AMARENA Schole."

We are currently living surrounded by an unprecedented amount of information and "correct answers." Yet, why does the world feel more difficult to understand than before? We believe the world is inherently more complex and beautiful.

However, this complexity has, at some point, been reduced to a simple dichotomy of "right" and "wrong," and we may be gradually losing the opportunity to interpret the world through our own sensibilities.

AMARENA believes that what is truly needed in this era is not to increase "correct answers," but to cultivate the "ability to ask questions." And perhaps, these questions arise from "cultural sensitivity" that is opened up through encounters with art and culture.

Based on this hypothesis, the new culture platform "AMARENA Schole" begins.

Where Questions Begin.

Schole is an ancient Greek word meaning "free inquiry." Film, literature, art, music, theater. We view culture not as "knowledge," but as a "lens through which to interpret the world." AMARENA Schole is a culture platform that cultivates the "ability to ask questions" and "cultural sensitivity" through this lens.

Starting with an inaugural symposium, we will continuously develop dialogue sessions, practical programs, and co-creation with creators to explore the questions needed by society and nurture them into works and projects.

AMARENA Documentary Label

Question First. Film Second.

Every work is preceded by a single question. A sense of unease not yet put into words. A landscape overlooked by everyone. A small voice sleeping deep within society. AMARENA Documentary Label is a film label that transforms the questions nurtured at AMARENA Schole into films, documentaries, and video works.

We create works because there is a question. Question First. Film Second.

This phrase represents the creative stance AMARENA will aim for going forward. Currently, film and video projects based on this philosophy are underway. Details will be announced sequentially.

Inaugural Symposium to be Held

As the first initiative of AMARENA Schole, we will hold an inaugural symposium. The theme is:

"Where Do Questions Originate? - Considering the True Value of Cultural Sensitivity."

We will bring together the feelings of unease and questions felt in our respective fields, starting with culture: film, literature, art, music, and theater. What is "cultural sensitivity"? Where does the "ability to ask questions" come from? We will explore this together with all participants.

This symposium is not a lecture or a panel discussion. It is a "dialogue-based symposium" where all participants explore a single question. At AMARENA, we call this dialogue itself "appreciation." Like appreciating a film. Like savoring music. We want to create a time where we can encounter different ways of seeing the world through others' sensibilities.

Participant Recruitment

This will be a small-scale event for approximately 10 founding members. We wish to cultivate this new culture platform together with researchers, editors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, those working on new value creation in companies, creators in film, theater, music, art, and others who continue to hold questions in their respective fields.
