Users can anonymously submit their personal stories. The submission process is simple and takes about five minutes using a multiple-choice format. Over 100 individuals, inspired by the support they received from others’ stories, have contributed their experiences with the hope of helping someone else.

Your contribution helps grow the dataset and gives courage to others—creating a warm, supportive community.

Average hospitalization periods and recovery times to daily life, extracted from user stories by condition, are made visible at a glance.

## The Inspiration Behind HerGoope

The founder underwent two surgeries under general anesthesia and was personally supported by reading others’ experiences.

Within just a year and a half, they faced both a tonsillectomy and ovarian cyst surgery—an illness involving a 10cm tumor on the ovary. Upon receiving the diagnosis, they were shocked, unable to speak about it to family, friends, or partners, and carried the anxiety alone.

- Will my ovary be removed?
- Will I still be able to get pregnant?
- How painful is the surgery?
- How long will the pain last?
- How much time off work will I need?

Amid overwhelming anxiety and questions, they found comfort by searching and reading personal accounts from others who had undergone similar surgeries late into the night.

Two major challenges encountered while searching for stories (issues with existing social media and blogs)

The internet hosts numerous heartfelt stories shared by individuals who, having been helped themselves, want to support others. However, while searching for information before surgery, the founder identified two significant issues with existing online content:

- Low 'Storability' Due to Information Fragmentation (Difficulty Revisiting)

Valuable personal stories are scattered across personal blogs, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and other platforms. As a result, even if users find helpful information once, they often cannot locate the same post again later, losing access permanently.

- Data Opacity and Difficulty Matching Conditions Due to Individual Differences

Even with the same condition, hospitalization duration, recovery time, and pain levels vary significantly based on age, pre-existing conditions, and lifestyle. This leads to two key challenges in information gathering:

・Lack of a general benchmark (average values) across the population

Relying on isolated individual stories online makes it difficult to determine whether a case is typical or exceptional.

・Inability to find information matching one’s personal conditions

There is no mechanism to easily and precisely search for stories or data from individuals with similar age, disease stage, or physical constitution.

──As someone directly affected, the founder strongly felt the need for a system that allows users to instantly grasp both 'overall averages' and 'personally relevant data.'

## Current State of Women's Health, Infertility, and STIs

Uterine fibroids, a common gynecological condition, are found in approximately 1 in 3 women over the age of 30. (*1)

Regarding infertility treatment, about 1 in every 4.4 couples has either received or is currently receiving infertility testing or treatment. (*2)

Chlamydia, one of the most common STIs, sees around 30,000 reported cases annually.

Additionally, reported cases of syphilis have been on the rise in recent years. (*3)

These sensitive health concerns—gynecological conditions, infertility, and STIs—are more common than many realize, yet remain difficult to discuss with others.

## HerGoope's Vision

Creating an Emotional Safe Haven: Supporting Isolated Health Concerns with Data and Stories

Women’s health issues, infertility, and STIs are highly sensitive topics, making them difficult to discuss with close ones, often leading to isolation. However, without speaking up, many others in society are silently experiencing the same fears and pains.

HerGoope (Hā-Gūpu) aims to be an emotional safe haven—a place where those burdened by anxiety can turn for comfort and support.

Over 100 individuals, having been helped by others’ stories, have shared their own experiences with the hope of encouraging others facing similar struggles. The personal stories submitted by HerGoope users, along with the real data visualized from them, will undoubtedly inspire courage in others.

A place to turn to when anxious, a place to feel safe. A place where those who found relief can leave behind hope for others. Together with our users, we at HerGoope aim to build and expand this warm, supportive cycle—an emotional safe haven for all.

## Future Developments and Roadmap

Following the launch of the website, HerGoope plans to continuously update its platform—not only expanding the volume of shared experiences but also introducing new features to help women resolve bodily anxieties and broaden their healthcare choices.

We are preparing to enhance functionality such as advanced filter search and detailed statistics to help users find stories from those with similar backgrounds (age, symptoms, treatment stage, etc.), a personal dashboard to track one’s own data, and improved community features to strengthen user connections.

- Strengthening Collaboration with Medical Experts and Institutions (Pursuing Full Patient Confidence)

In the future, we aim to collaborate with healthcare professionals and medical institutions to provide verified medical insights, ensuring users can make informed decisions with full confidence.
