Initial Engine Appoints Kohei Tani, Former Beatus CTO and Works Applications Alumnus, as First COO

Tani began his career as an engineer at Works Applications Co., Ltd. He subsequently served as CTO for multiple companies, including a food and beverage group that operates brands like Yazawa Meat, and a web development company he co-founded, where he led the establishment of technical organizations and drove business growth.

In its fourth fiscal year, Initial Engine has established the new position of COO to meet the growing demand for integrated support that addresses both business challenges and technological utilization. With Tani's participation, the company aims to further strengthen the connection between management, technology, and business, enhancing its executive structure to support the business growth of its client companies.

Background for the Establishment of the COO Position

Key Initiatives Following the Appointment of the COO

Strengthening the Project Promotion System Connecting Management and Technology Tani possesses experience as an engineer, CTO, and business leader, with a deep understanding of both management and technological perspectives. He will enhance the system for clients, bridging the perception gap between management and development teams, and taking responsibility from concept development to delivery. He will support decision-making that balances technical feasibility with business outcomes, ensuring the successful execution of projects.

2. Improving the Reproducibility of Consulting Quality to Strengthen the Organizational Core In the spring of 2026, Initial Engine established its own evaluation criteria to visualize and standardize consulting quality. Under Tani's leadership, these criteria will be deeply integrated into operations, systematizing knowledge that was previously dependent on individual experience and capabilities into organizational assets. This will prevent organizational fragmentation due to rapid expansion and aim for sustainable growth centered on current members, while also developing a training framework for engineers to steadily grow as consultants.

Profile: Kohei Tani

Born in Osaka in 1987. After graduating from the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Kansai University, he gained overseas experience, including establishing the Shanghai division at Works Applications Co., Ltd. In 2015, he co-founded a web development company, where he served as CTO, leading product design through to operation. From 2018, he spearheaded DX promotion as CTO of Beatus, a major food and beverage group. In parallel, he managed his own corporation, contributing to project execution in diverse roles such as PM and consultant. In July 2026, he will assume the position of COO at Initial Engine Inc., embodying "connecting operations and management through technology" and taking charge of expanding the IT consultant organization and standardizing quality.
