◆Face Recognition AI Makes Photo Verification Easier

We have started providing an AI face recognition photo checking feature as a new function available at no additional cost within our 'Easy Production Software' for graduation and kindergarten album production. This software was used by 3,478 schools nationwide last year, with approximately 880 schools being new adoptions. This year, within just one month of the new academic year starting, about 100 schools have already decided to adopt it. The number of adopting schools is increasing year by year, and its ease of use in the field is highly evaluated. Particularly, the reduction of the burden of checking 'appearance counts' is supported, accelerating new adoptions. This feature is already being provided free of charge nationwide (with no additional option fees), aiming to reduce the production burden on teachers and parents, prevent complaints, and reduce reprinting.

◆Background of Development

A particularly heavy burden in graduation and kindergarten album production is the photo verification process.

Among these, the following checks tend to be cumbersome for production staff:

Checking who appears how many times
Checking for overlooked photos
Adjusting for uneven appearance counts
Checking for mixed-in photos from other grades or irrelevant subjects

Traditionally, these checks required visually inspecting all photos, searching for photos by event, or counting appearance counts manually or with Excel.

◆New Features

To solve these challenges, we have added AI-powered photo checking features.

・New Feature ①: Automatic Detection of Mixed-in Photos from Other Grades/Schools

With this newly added feature, it is now possible to find photos from candidate photos that do not contain any faces registered as individual photos.

By verifying based on registered student/child face data, it becomes easier to notice 'mixed-in photos from other grades' or 'misuse of photos from other schools' that are common in album production.

Especially in events involving multiple grades/schools, such as inter-school athletic meets, off-campus learning, and excursions, there are many photos of similar scenes, and irrelevant photos may get mixed in. Traditionally, it was necessary to visually check each photo one by one, but with this function, photos that do not contain registered faces can be efficiently checked.

This reduces the risk of complaints and claims after delivery, such as 'this student is not from our grade' or 'there are photos from another school,' allowing verification work before album completion to proceed with greater peace of mind.

・New Feature ②: Reverse Search for Photos of Students with Few Appearances

Face recognition AI supports everything from counting appearances to replacing photos.

With another new feature, simply by selecting one student/child from the registered individual photos, a list of photos in which that student appears can be viewed.

Photos featuring the target child are displayed with a red frame, eliminating the need to search through many photos one by one. Furthermore, it is immediately clear whether the photo has already been used in the album.

Usage counts are displayed as '0 times,' '1 time,' '2 times,' etc., and unused photos can be identified on the spot. Therefore, even if there is a child with few appearances, relevant photos can be easily found and considered as candidates for replacement or addition.

Also, photos that you want to keep as candidates can be favorited by pinning them. This allows for organized verification of candidate photos, smoothly progressing the adjustment of appearance count imbalances and photo replacement work.

This reduces the time previously spent on 'searching for photos,' making it easier to concentrate on selecting photos to be used in the album.

◆Seamless Integration from Verification to Replacement through Collaboration with Existing Functions

The newly added features become even more effective when combined with existing functions installed in Yumefoto's graduation and kindergarten album production software.

Until now, we have provided functions to support album production, such as checking appearance counts using an AI face recognition system, listing verification results, and managing candidates by pinning photos.

With these new features, checking appearance counts, verifying unused photos, selecting candidate photos, and replacing them on the editing screen can be done more smoothly.

Traditionally, after checking appearance counts, it was necessary to re-search for photos of the target child and then select photos that could be used for replacement. With the new feature, simply by selecting the target student/child, a list of unused photos featuring that person can be viewed and immediately considered as replacement candidates.

This makes it easier to proceed seamlessly from verification to selection and replacement.
