In Oi Town, Ashigarakami District, Kanagawa Prefecture, there is a cherry blossom field that grows special "edible cherry blossoms." The widely known "Sakura-cha" (cherry blossom tea) is enjoyed as a lucky charm, made by pouring hot water over salt-pickled cherry blossoms.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, production has dropped drastically, and the decline in farmers due to aging has also taken a toll, making distribution difficult. Therefore, to support the farmers, we have planned a "Cherry Blossom Picking and Salt-Pickling Experience." Why not experience the work of cherry blossoms alongside the farmers?
On the day of the event, participants will also enjoy a cherry blossom viewing picnic holding "Sakura Onigiri" (cherry blossom rice balls), made by mixing chopped pickled cherry blossoms into straw-cooked rice highly recommended by the farmers. After viewing, participants will pick cherry blossoms and try their hand at making pickled cherry blossoms to take home as a souvenir!
### Delivery Service to Your Home Also Available For those who cannot visit the site, please do not worry. We are rolling out a service to deliver the satoyama (rural landscape) lifestyle to your home, sending fresh cherry blossoms directly to your residence. Because a complete set of ingredients is included, you can make "salt-pickled cherry blossoms" right at home. Additionally, you can use our service to deliver the blessings of the satoyama as a gift to your loved ones.
