Edelweiss Co., Ltd. will open a new sweets brand, “flaneru Flour and Sugar,” on Thursday, June 11, 2026, on the basement first floor of Hanshin Umeda Main Store in Osaka. The brand focuses on two essential ingredients in confectionery: flour and sugar. Around the world, both come in many varieties, each with its own story. Although familiar, they are surprisingly deep ingredients. By changing the combination and use of flour and sugar, even similar recipes can produce very different flavors and textures, from rich and clean-tasting to crisp, moist, fluffy, or chewy. flaneru aims to elevate classic sweets into more memorable, flavorful creations. The name “flaneru” combines the joy of wandering freely with the idea of carefully refining creative ideas. Just as a stroll can lead to unexpected encounters, the brand’s pastry chefs discover ingredients, test combinations and methods, and refine them into unexpectedly delicious sweets. The signature “flaneru Biscuit” is made with two types of wheat, French wheat and stone-milled wheat, combined with Okinawan cane sugar. Because it is a simple biscuit made from flour, sugar, eggs, and butter, the character of each ingredient stands out. Prices are 810 yen for 6 pieces, 1,080 yen for 8 pieces, and 2,160 yen for 16 pieces. The “flaneru Biscuit Sand” adds French brown sugar cassonade to the signature biscuit and sandwiches a chocolate filling with a pleasantly gritty texture. The result is a classic yet lingering combination of aromatic biscuits and rich chocolate. Prices are 864 yen for 3 pieces and 1,620 yen for 6 pieces. The “Fuwafufu Cake” series features three soft cakes made by combining different flours and sugars: Cane Sugar and Hokkaido Wheat, Brown Sugar Banana, and Chocolate Caramel. Each flavor has been developed through repeated trials to bring out fluffy texture, deep sweetness, richness, subtle chewiness, and fragrant notes. Each cake is priced at 702 yen. flaneru will also offer cute circle, triangle, and square cookies that highlight the individuality of various flours and sugars. The lineup includes Kikaijima raw sugar chocolate chip diamant cookies, whole wheat shortbread, and spring-summer limited lemon cookies. Each 7-piece pack is priced at 1,296 yen. Gift assortments include sets combining the signature biscuits and biscuit sandwiches, biscuits with cakes, and assortments of all three Fuwafufu Cake flavors, with prices ranging from 1,296 yen to 3,564 yen. The shop will also sell fresh cakes and baked goods that make use of the simple deliciousness of flour and sugar, including a shortcake made with cane sugar, a flaneru cheesecake topped with the signature biscuit, a lemon cake combining wasanbon sugar and tangy lemon, carrot cake, and whole wheat scones. To celebrate the opening, a limited daily opening set will be available from June 11. The set includes an original flaneru tote bag, 8 signature biscuits, 3 biscuit sandwiches, and 1 Fuwafufu Cake in Cane Sugar and Hokkaido Wheat flavor, priced at 2,700 yen.
