Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture, Introduces Post-Payment Furusato Nozei "AtoFuru®" for the First Time in Kyushu Region

Densan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Jun Kono; hereinafter, "Densan") and Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture (Mayor: Masanori Okuzuka; hereinafter, "Nakatsu City") have agreed to introduce "AtoFuru®" (hereinafter, "AtoFuru"), a post-payment Furusato Nozei service based on local consumption, and have decided to jointly promote its full-scale operation in the city.

Furusato Nozei using "AtoFuru" will be possible at multiple registered facilities (accommodation, dining, experiences, etc.) within Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture.

Background and Aspirations for Introduction

Nakatsu City developed as a castle town centered around Nakatsu Castle, built by Kuroda Kanbei, and its historic atmosphere can still be felt in the cityscape. Additionally, visitors can enjoy magnificent scenery created by rich nature, such as "Yabakei," which is registered as a Japan Heritage site, and activities utilizing nature, such as cycling roads. Hot spring spots are also dotted throughout the city, allowing visitors to enjoy "Onsen-ken Oita" (Oita, the hot spring prefecture).

It is a city proud of its "gourmet food," including the sacred land of karaage (fried chicken), and delicacies from the sea and mountains.

To promote donation activities starting from the gratitude and empathy born from our proud food and visiting experiences, we have decided to introduce "AtoFuru" as a new method. This service will allow users to make donations after returning home, reflecting on their experiences, and is expected to build continuous relationships beyond one-time tourist consumption.

Furthermore, during homecoming seasons such as Golden Week and year-end/New Year holidays, the number of opportunities for people from urban areas to dine with family and relatives in Nakatsu City increases. The "AtoFuru" mechanism, which allows these "hometown dining table" experiences to be converted into donations with just a receipt, serves as a new channel to connect the gratitude and affection that homecoming visitors feel for their hometowns to regional contributions in a natural way. Moreover, it is expected to be widely utilized by day-trippers and short-term tourists visiting from various parts of Kyushu, as a mechanism to contribute to the region in the form of donations for meals and experiences during their visits.

Nakatsu City plans to further develop the usage environment for "AtoFuru" in cooperation with local businesses, aiming to create a related population through tourism and homecoming and contribute to the sustainable development of the regional economy.

Travel memories transform into Furusato Nozei. Providing a new donation experience.

"AtoFuru" is a service that allows receipts received from accommodation, dining, and experiences at travel destinations to be converted into Furusato Nozei return gifts later. It is a "post-payment type" Furusato Nozei service where approximately 30% *2 of the donation amount is designated as a return gift, and the difference is donated later.
