Exhibition and sale of works, and sale of goods.
Nikiyamao, Wakabayashi-ku, Sendai City / Photographed on January 24, 2026, with a medium format camera, 6x6 size (B&W film)
Since March 11, 2011, the coastal areas of Sendai have dramatically changed their appearance.
The former boundaries have become ambiguous, and the land continues to transform with a mixture of artificial and natural objects.
We observe its state, stripping away excessive meaning.
In compositions emphasizing vertical and horizontal lines reflected in the ground glass of a medium format camera, we confront the subject.
In this exhibition, we eliminate subjective emotions towards the landscape before our eyes,
and fix the materiality of "what is simply there" into monochrome tones.
It is an accumulation of objects as objective entities, before meaning or narrative is attached.

About Sendai Collection 2045
How will the landscape of Sendai in 2045, 20 years from now, transform amidst the singularity created by the torrents of AI and digital? The first phase of the Sendai Collection (2001-2023) approached the essence of photography's documentary nature by confronting 10,000 anonymous landscapes, an experiment exploring the possibility that quantity can transform into quality.
Now, the second phase of the Sendai Collection (2025-2045) begins a new challenge centered on "time." Can the analog gaze of photographers and the fundamental act of photography capture memories that are being lost in the accelerating flow of time? Old and new intersect in the changing cityscape. Our new mission for the Sendai Collection is to continue recording these transformations through the accumulation of time over the next 20 years.
What kind of future vision will the landscape of Sendai present as objectivity and subjectivity resonate? We, the Sendai Collection, want to continue observing. - October 2025
