Interactive Morning Meetings: 'Speaking in Your Own Words'

Taguchi Residential Design Studio Co., Ltd. (located at 1579 Honjomachi, Kita Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture) has implemented a unique daily morning meeting system to cultivate each employee's ability to think independently and take initiative.

Under this initiative, employees share personal reflections on one of 23 themes from the company's creed booklet, 'Credo,' selected according to the date. The speaker is chosen on the spot through a lottery using popsicle sticks. Participants then engage in dialogue by asking questions and sharing opinions, ensuring everyone speaks up during the morning meeting.

By using an unprepared, impromptu format, employees naturally develop the habit of reflecting on company values in their daily lives, enhancing their ability to 'speak in their own words.'

This initiative stems from the growing importance of communication skills—not just knowledge and experience—in today’s workplace.

The morning meeting is positioned not merely as an information-sharing session, but as a space to 'put thoughts into words and deepen mutual understanding,' fostering human capabilities that AI cannot replicate and cultivating diverse perspectives.

By verbally exploring questions like 'Why do you think that?' and 'How would you think about it?', employees strengthen workplace communication and mutual understanding.

During one morning meeting, the theme was 'Something Only You Can Do.' The speaker shared that saying 'thank you' personally is something only they can convey, emphasizing the importance of expressing gratitude clearly with words.

In response, another participant asked, 'What’s something recent that made you feel appreciated?'—sparking further dialogue.

Beyond improving internal communication, this practice also enhances employees’ ability to communicate and express themselves when interacting with clients.

Employees have shared positive feedback, such as 'I was initially hesitant, but now I’ve developed the habit of putting my thoughts into words,' 'It’s an opportunity to understand others’ values,' and 'It strengthens my dialogue skills.'

The company will continue developing systems that nurture people through everyday practices.
