New Doraemon Ukiyo-e Echizen Washi Puzzles Released! Featuring Masterpieces by Hokusai and Hiroshige, Available from May 29th

(CEO: Eiji Sakai), known for its numerous collaborations with popular content such as movies, anime, and games, has gained domestic and international acclaim for its works that fuse traditional techniques with modern culture. Among these, the 'Doraemon Ukiyo-e Series,' which features Doraemon characters in famous ukiyo-e prints, is a popular project highly supported by art and Doraemon fans worldwide. Now, new additions are coming to the 'Doraemon Ukiyo-e Echizen Washi Puzzle' series, which turns these prints into 300-piece jigsaw puzzles. In addition to the already released 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Gotenyama-hill, Shinagawa on the Tokaido' and 'The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido: Kambara, Night Snow,' two new works featuring Katsushika Hokusai's 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Koshu Ishikawajima' and Utagawa Hiroshige's 'One Hundred Famous Views of Edo: Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake' will be added to the lineup. Sales will begin on Friday, May 29th, at noon via the Han-San online shop. The two new puzzles are based on masterpieces by the two greatest ukiyo-e artists, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. 'Koshu Ishikawajima' is a masterpiece from Hokusai's 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji,' known for its bold use of 'Berlin blue.' The beauty of 'Hokusai Blue,' which influenced the world, combined with the composition depicting the bond between Nobita and Doraemon, makes it a captivating piece. 'Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake' is a masterpiece from Hiroshige's later years, 'One Hundred Famous Views of Edo,' depicting people hurrying across a bridge during a sudden downpour. Known as a work copied by Van Gogh, the sight of Doraemon and his friends rushing through the heavy rain adds a humorous charm to the piece. The biggest feature of this product is that it is the first jigsaw puzzle in Japan to use 'Echizen Washi' paper. To reproduce the texture of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and the unique feel of Japanese paper, Han-San spent about a year on prototyping and verification. By clearing technical challenges such as paper selection, color development, ink adhesion, printing compatibility, and coating, they have achieved a balance between the unique texture of Washi and ease of assembly. The finished puzzle offers a texture and depth that makes you feel as if you are touching a 'real ukiyo-e woodblock print' every time you pick it up.
