Etajimasou, a hot spring inn in Etajima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, will launch "Yomitsuki," a new accommodation experience for reading, starting June 1, 2026. Focusing on the rainy season, when opportunities for going out decrease, this project values the introspective time spent "reading" and aims to create new demand for tourism.

In recent years, travel has shifted from "visiting tourist spots" to "purpose-driven stays."
However, for modern people, reading is becoming "time that has been postponed."

To address this challenge, Etajimasou proposes a new stay value: "traveling to read books."

Naming June "Yomitsuki," we intentionally let go of schedules and provide time to immerse oneself in reading.

Do you have any books you've thought, "I'll read it someday"?

Books you've wanted to read "someday." A book you planned to pick up "when you had time." Before you know it, that "someday" gets postponed, swept away by the hustle and bustle of daily life. The time for reading shouldn't be special, yet for us now, it might feel like a bit of a luxury.

Please bring that one book you've always wanted to read as your travel companion.

-Special Experiences During the Project Period-

■1. Staff-Selected "Book Curation"
"Recommended books" with comments from staff are placed throughout the inn. This creates opportunities for accidental encounters.

■2. "Gift a Book" Experience (Mailing Kit)
A book encountered during your stay can be sent with a letter on the spot. We provide a system to "deliver the afterglow of reading to someone."

■3. Space Design that Transforms the Rainy Season into Value
Leveraging the sounds of rain, sea views, and silence, we realize a stay where "not going out becomes valuable."

With a gentle message attached to a book selected by staff.
The "Yomitsuki" moment begins here.

■Recommended Stay Style
This project recommends a stay where guests secure approximately 3 to 6 hours for reading during a 1-night, 2-day stay. For those with more time, a 2-night, 3-day stay is recommended to finish reading a whole book.

■Target Audience
We primarily propose this to people in their 30s and 40s who are busy with work and daily life and have postponed reading, despite wanting to. It is also designed for adult guests seeking time to step away from daily life and confront themselves.

-Project Outline-
This project will be implemented with the following details.

We provide a mailing kit that allows you to send a book selected at the inn along with a letter.

Period: June 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026
Location: Etajimasou (Etajima City, Hiroshima Prefecture)
Content: Reading experience / Book selection / Book mailing experience
Price: Based on standard accommodation rates.

"We believe reading is not a luxury, but time that should be reclaimed," General Manager Naoki Abe.

June is a season where one might want to pause for a moment.

In the Japanese calendar, June is called "Minazuki" (water month), and July is called "Fumizuki" (letter month). At Etajimasou, we have intentionally named this June "Yomitsuki" (reading month). We hope that the time spent quietly facing a book will eventually turn into feelings for someone, and those feelings will be conveyed through words.

If such a small cycle is born, even the long rainy season might feel a little bit more endearing.

To travel to read books.
We hope such a gentle choice will spread from this place.

This project is also being considered for regular future events.

May this wish reach book lovers all over the world.
