A cultural hub where you can feel the history and climate of Ataka.

Ataka-cho, Komatsu City, also known as the setting for the Kabuki Juhachiban play "Kanjincho," has flourished since ancient times as a key maritime transportation hub on the Sea of Japan side. It was a port town where not only people and goods but also culture and aesthetics intersected. In this place where history and culture overlap, the "Oki-ke" (a Japan Heritage site, former Kitamaebune shipping agent's residence), which once prospered as a *kaisen donya, has begun to carve out a new era beyond time. The aim was not merely to preserve the facility or turn it into a tourist resource, but to reweave its former activities into a modern stay experience, creating a place that connects local memories to the future.

*Kaisen Donya: In the Edo period, these were port wholesalers who acted as intermediaries between cargo owners and ship owners (kaisen), handling cargo loading and unloading, storage, sales brokerage, finance, and arranging crew members.

A rich space born from the culture of Kitamaebune.

The ships brought the world.

The winds from distant lands. Memories from afar. Unfamiliar tastes.

Kitamaebune, the trading ships that sailed the rough seas of the Sea of Japan.

These ships would sell and load cargo at each port of call,

carrying goods and culture to various harbors,

connecting the Japanese archipelago from west to north.

Ataka-cho, Komatsu City.

This, too, was one of the ports that flourished due to Kitamaebune

from the Edo to Meiji periods.

And in this townscape, where the atmosphere of that time remains,

stands the former kaisen donya "Oki-ke." The accumulated history,

has been quietly rewoven with a modern perspective as "Ataka no Yado Oki,"

beginning to carve out a new era.

Guest rooms that retain the generous spirit of the mansion that supported Ataka's prosperity.

Kutani masterpieces adorn the earthen-walled spaces.

Silk fabrics swaying in the sea breeze.

Days spent with the accumulated time here and the materials that breathe in this land.

Listening to the distant sound of the tide,

fully enjoying a moment that feels the magnificent land and history.
