Nihon TOYO Co., Ltd. announces that it has filed a patent application for technology related to the large-scale and continuous operation of hydrolysis treatment facilities targeting unused biomass, organic waste, agricultural residues, and other materials.

Our company has been advancing technological development and commercialization studies concerning the conversion of organic resources into fuel and other valuable resources. Particularly, for organic waste and unused biomass with high water content, which were traditionally difficult to utilize as fuel, we have been exploring possibilities to improve their fuel properties, drying characteristics, crushability, and handleability through hydrolysis treatment, thereby enabling their use as coal-alternative fuels, boiler fuels, and regional energy resources.

This patent application aims to expand processing capacity, improve operational efficiency, stabilize reactor operation, and establish a continuous processing system, all of which are crucial for transitioning hydrolysis treatment equipment from the demonstration phase to the commercialization phase.

Traditionally, hydrolysis treatment required individual management of processes such as reaction, decompression, input, and discharge. When handling large volumes, challenges included equipment configuration, operation cycles, thermal energy utilization efficiency, and stable supply of treated materials. To address these issues, our company has been conducting technical studies, including operating methods that combine multiple reactors and efficient coordination among processing steps.

This application is not limited to specific raw materials but considers applicability to spent mushroom compost, agricultural residues, woody biomass, organic components derived from municipal waste, and other unused organic resources.

Through this patent application, Nihon TOYO Co., Ltd. aims to strengthen its intellectual property foundation for hydrolysis treatment technology and further advance business development in waste treatment, resource circulation, renewable fuels, and coal-alternative fuels sectors, both domestically and internationally.
