[Lecture Overview]
Toward the realization of Japan's GX strategy and carbon neutrality by 2050, CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) is positioned as one of the crucial countermeasures in hard-to-abate sectors, and institutional arrangements are underway for its smooth introduction.

Currently, under the Carbon Management Subcommittee, two working groups regarding CCS support measures and the CCS business system are holding repeated discussions on the framework and organization of issues regarding the system.

Based on these ongoing studies, this lecture will organize the policy positioning of CCS in Japan, the progress of legal system development, and the main issues in system design, and will explain the direction of discussions aimed at materializing the system.

Furthermore, while referring to domestic and international trends, it will comprehensively consider the challenges surrounding the introduction of CCS and future matters for study, and explain in detail the outlook for future system deployment.
