[Course Overview]
Libraries, which used to be repositories of regional knowledge and symbols of democracy with equal access for citizens, have become bases for local communities and catalysts for new urban development in the 21st century.
The possibilities for operations have opened up to not only direct management but also various companies and organizations. Furthermore, the definition of a library in a broader sense is evolving and diversifying year by year, including book-centric facilities not bound by the Library Act and reading spaces produced by private companies.
The library has now become the hottest building type with possibilities being dynamically explored.
The existence of a creative library unique to that town directly links to the creativity of the region's future.
We will cover challenging libraries domestically and internationally, analyze them from a cross-sectional perspective from design to management, and consider the future of libraries or how to create spaces.
[Lecture Topics]
1. Thinking about future libraries
2. Traveling to new libraries
3. Creating a library like a city
4. Related Q&A
5. Business card exchange and networking event
In addition to direct dialogue and Q&A with lecturers who are usually difficult to meet, this is a valuable opportunity unique to JPI seminars to gain information useful for practical business and opportunities for new collaboration through networking among participants across industries and sectors.
