Nippon Manpower Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kenji Kusonoki) has partnered with educational publisher Obunsha Co., Ltd. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) to create and supervise the "Self-Understanding Workbook" section for the "Career Exploration Workbook for High School Students Considering Their Future," a teaching material designed to support proactive career choices by high school students. The e-book version of this book will be released on July 3, 2026.

Additionally, this workbook has been produced in a limited print run and will be sequentially distributed exclusively to some model schools that have cooperated with Obunsha's "Kei-setsu Jidai Special Issue" for class development (Obunsha Press Release: Think, Write, Summarize! "Career Exploration Workbook for High School Students Considering Their Future" E-book to Support Proactive Career Choices, Released July 3rd | Obunsha Co., Ltd. Press Release).

In an era where information is passively consumed via smartphones and university selection can be done somewhat haphazardly, this workbook uses a worksheet format that encourages students to "think, write, and summarize" for themselves, thereby supporting proactive and satisfying career choices for high school students.

Background of the Initiative

In recent years, the proportion of school-recommended and comprehensive selection methods in university entrance exams has increased, making the importance of personal statements and interviews asking "Why do you want to advance to this university?" grow.

On the other hand, there are many cases where high school students make career choices without sufficient self-understanding.

Nippon Manpower has a track record of training over 50,000 career consultants and has been involved in career support that helps individuals articulate their values and strengths. This initiative aims to "improve the quality of self-understanding" from the high school stage by leveraging this expertise.

Nippon Manpower's Role in This Book

The biggest feature of this book is the systematic incorporation of a comprehensive "Self-Understanding Workbook" as a preliminary step before delving into career and university selection.

Nippon Manpower was responsible for the planning and supervision of this self-understanding section, designing it with an emphasis on organizing the core self-concept of a career and clarifying "the self one wants to be," based on the knowledge gained from training career consultants.

We aim for high school students to make career choices based on their own individuality, rather than solely on academic ability or the influence of others, by confronting fundamental questions such as:

What do I find valuable?

What kind of life do I want to lead?

In what way do I want to engage with society?

By going through this process, the content aims to provide consistency not only in the choice of further education but also in subsequent learning and careers.

Features of the Teaching Material

This book is a practical teaching material that fuses Obunsha's career information content with Nippon Manpower's career development know-how. By referring to and utilizing each issue of Obunsha's "Kei-setsu Jidai Special Issue," which is packed with abundant information, while working through the worksheets, students can deepen their career exploration more effectively and efficiently.

1. Integrated Design from Self-Understanding to Career Choice

Organized step-by-step from self-analysis → understanding academics/professions → university selection → personal statement creation.

2. Promotes Proactive Learning Through Worksheets

Supports deeper thinking through a structure of "thinking, writing, and summarizing."

3. Reflects Practical Application in High School Settings

Developed based on worksheets that have received positive evaluations in actual classes.

4. Information Utilization Through ICT Collaboration

Access university information sites like "University Entrance Exam Pass Navi" via QR codes. By linking with the information in each issue of "Kei-setsu Jidai Special Issue" in print, students can efficiently research the latest university information and apply it to their work.

Future Developments

In addition to use in high school career guidance and career education settings, this teaching material is envisioned for deployment in various scenarios such as:

School x Home Career Dialogues

Early Career Education Programs

Collaborative Projects with Educational Institutions

Nippon Manpower will continue to strengthen its partnerships in the education sector and promote integrated career support from young people to working adults.
