New Spot Opens on Lake Ashi Shore! "Ashinoko Sanpuku Chaya" Opens April 11th (Sat)

A new charcoal-grilled dango specialty shop, "Ashinoko Sanpuku Chaya," will open on April 11, 2026 (Saturday) near the first torii gate of Hakone Shrine. The signature menu item, "Sanpuku Dango," is an auspicious dango wishing for three fortunes: great fortune, happiness, and wealth. It is made from carefully steamed high-quality domestic rice, characterized by a crispy exterior and chewy interior. Enjoy the luxurious taste of freshly grilled dango while feeling the refreshing breeze by Lake Ashi, as a companion on your way to Hakone Shrine or during a stroll. The shop offers two types of dango made with domestic rice: White Dango (500 yen, tax included), which allows you to enjoy the natural sweetness of rice, and Kin Goma Dango (600 yen, tax included), which features rich sesame flavor. There are also three flavors using local ingredients: Plain, Gotemba Mitarashi (using Amano Shoyu's soy sauce), and Hakoneji Negi Miso (using Kato Heitaro Shoten's red miso). The shop is located at 6-8 Motohakone, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture, about a 1-minute walk from Hakone Pirate Ship Motohakone Port. Business hours are 10:00-16:30 (until 17:00 on weekends and holidays), closed on Thursdays.
