Japanese people's daily sitting time is among the longest in the world (*1). Kaji Corporation (Headquarters: Shimane Prefecture, President: Kaname Ogawa), which has been researching body pressure dispersion for over 20 years, will sequentially release two types of its first lounge chairs, "HUG YUKURA LX LOUNGE" (upholstery: utilizing Ultrasuede®︎) and "HUG YUKURA LX LOUNGE Meister" (upholstery: utilizing Ultrasuede®︎ Nu), from late June 2026 at directly managed stores nationwide, official online shop, and limited-time shops.

Background of Development

◾️ EXGEL's "Sitting" Awareness

Through research in seating (*2) for the medical and nursing care fields, EXGEL has accumulated knowledge regarding sitting.

According to a study by the University of Sydney, Japanese sitting time is among the highest in a comparative study of 20 countries (*1).

Based on this social background, with the belief that "improving the quality of sitting time leads to improved QOL," we are engaged in product development that enriches daily "sitting" by combining our accumulated know-how with the technology of our proprietary developed material "EXGEL® (hereinafter referred to as EXGEL®)."

We have so far developed products that pursue "sitting quality" in various scenes by utilizing our proprietary developed material "EXGEL®."

The existing product "HUG YUKURA LX," which serves as the base for this product, is a floor chair that allows users to experience seating comfort similar to that of luxury car seats through "EXGEL®" and meticulous design. It is loved by many customers for its comfort as a personal floor chair close to the floor and its size that easily fits into Japanese lifestyles.

To deliver products that harmonize with such diverse "sitting" lifestyles, our next focus was the lounge chair.

A lounge chair, unlike chairs used for work or meals, is designed for enjoying comfortable time.

"HUG YUKURA LX LOUNGE" is an evolution of "HUG YUKURA LX" with legs added, transforming it into a low-seated lounge chair, allowing users to lean back more relaxedly. It is a product that realizes our long-held "passion for sitting" in a new form.

It is a chair that accompanies each person's relaxation time, such as reading or listening to music, enriching their "sitting life."

We have pursued "sitting quality" primarily in the medical and nursing care fields.

On the other hand, we believe that seating comfort also contributes to daily richness during "time to relax in one's own way," such as reading or listening to music.

While maintaining the compact size of the existing floor chair model "HUG YUKURA LX," legs have been added and the seat raised to create a lounge chair. The design, utilizing the proprietary material "EXGEL®" and seating knowledge, gently supports the lumbar spine, sacrum, and pelvis. By relieving strain around the waist, it makes it easier to maintain a natural and relaxed posture.

Furthermore, with the legs on the floor, the core is stabilized, allowing for relaxation and a deeper sense of comfort. The large backrest envelops the entire body, achieving a high-quality and comfortable "sitting relaxation" that cannot be experienced with conventional chairs.

2. Supports Various Relaxation Scenes

The reclining function, which allows adjustment of the angle between the waist and back, enables angle adjustment according to the scene, such as reading or watching movies/listening to music. The backrest can be adjusted forward and backward with a lever handle while seated.

The headrest angle can be adjusted from the backrest area, naturally maintaining the neck's position and providing comfortable support.

The design provides a sense of openness around the arms, making it easy to perform actions while seated, and allowing for comfortable reading or work.

About Store Services

We began operating directly managed stores in 2017 and currently operate seven directly managed stores, "EXGEL Seating Lab," in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. (As of June 2026)

At each store, we offer a measurement service called "Seating Navi®" that visualizes the pressure applied to the buttocks when sitting.

Based on the measurement results, specialized staff provide counseling and propose the most suitable cushion for the customer.
