"Yokai Moving Exhibition KAGOSHIMA ~Imagination of Japan~" (Friday, July 3, 2026 - Monday, August 31, 2026 at the Kagoshima Prefectural Center for Historical and Cultural Preservation, First Special Exhibition Hall) will finally open on Friday, July 3rd.

This event is the world's first immersive, experiential digital art museum where visitors can immerse themselves in Japan's proud yokai art, including "Hyakki Yako Emaki," "Hyakumonogatari," "Oni," "Tengu," "Kappa," and "Tsukumogami," drawn by various artists from the Edo and Meiji periods, using cutting-edge video technology and three-dimensional modeling.

Born from rich imagination rooted in ancient Japanese myths and legends, Japan's yokai have been loved by people around the world across eras. This exhibition dynamically brings to life their humorous forms depicted in yokai paintings and caricatures using cutting-edge digital technologies such as 3DCG, projection mapping, and holographic screens, while also recreating a realistic yokai world through three-dimensional modeling.

Furthermore, with the cooperation of the Nishio City Iwase Bunko, Japan's first ancient book museum, and the Yokai Museum on Shodoshima, the exhibition will provide explanations of yokai culture, yokai paintings, caricatures, and yokai art, while also exploring the culture and history of yokai that connect to modern pop culture.

This exhibition has previously been held in Nagoya and Tokyo, attracting over 200,000 visitors.

Please enjoy this new sensation art entertainment exhibition where you can "enjoy, learn, and experience" yokai culture, from adults to children, as you get lost in the "YOKAI" world that fascinates the globe.
