“Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition,” produced by HITOHATA, INC. (Representative Director: Takeaki Higashiyama), has won Gold in the “Experiential & Immersive - Exhibition Experience” category at the international creative awards program MUSE Creative Awards 2026. Founded in 2015 by the U.S.-based International Awards Associate (IAA), the MUSE Creative Awards honor outstanding creative work worldwide in advertising, design, and digital media. Together with the MUSE Design Awards, the program receives more than 10,000 entries annually from around the world, and “Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition” was selected as a Gold Winner. “Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition” is an immersive digital art museum based on more than 300 works by globally renowned ukiyo-e artists such as Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada. Using 3DCG animation and projection mapping, the exhibition transforms these works into graphical digital art that can be enjoyed by both adults and children, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of ukiyo-e across multiple spatial video areas. The exhibition has been held in Nagoya, Milan, Kagoshima, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Taipei, Osaka, Kaohsiung, and Paris, attracting more than 500,000 visitors to date. It also received an Excellence Award in the Project category at the CJPF Awards 2025, organized by the Cool Japan Public-Private Partnership Platform, whose secretariat is the Cabinet Office’s Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters. The exhibition is currently running in Paris, France, until August 23, 2026, and is scheduled to be held in Hiroshima, Aomori, and Gifu from summer 2026 onward. In spring 2027, the first permanent facility, “Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum,” is planned to open in Ginza, Tokyo. This international creative award recognizes the exhibition as a world-class creative experience that reconstructs ukiyo-e, one of Japan’s proud traditional cultures, through cutting-edge digital technology. HITOHATA, INC. will continue to present the appeal of Japanese art and traditional culture, including ukiyo-e, both in Japan and overseas through advanced technology and production, contributing to stronger global communication of Japanese culture and the creation of new value for traditional culture.
