Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA Concept
The "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA" is an immersive, experiential digital art museum that uses over 300 works by world-renowned Ukiyoe artists such as Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada as its basis. It employs state-of-the-art 3DCG animation and projection mapping to create new-sense digital art that can be enjoyed across generations and languages, immersing visitors in the world of Ukiyoe through 8 conceptual 3D video spaces.
Focusing on Ukiyoe masterpieces such as "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and "Fine Wind, Clear Morning (Red Fuji)" from Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," visitors can enjoy the beauty of Ukiyoe through immersive 3D visuals, sound, and scent. Furthermore, real Ukiyoe prints from the Edo period and reprint editions carved after the Meiji era will also be exhibited, with multilingual explanations (Japanese, English, Chinese, etc.) on the history of Ukiyoe, Edo culture, and Ukiyoe artists.
In addition, a museum shop offering original goods in collaboration with long-established stores and a gallery displaying and selling real Ukiyoe will be annexed, allowing visitors to experience Edo culture with all five senses and take a piece of it home.
Photography and videography are permitted throughout the venue, allowing visitors to capture themselves in the fantastical world of Ukiyoe.
We invite you to look forward to the "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA," a Japanese cultural experience facility where masterpieces of Ukiyoe that have captivated the world across eras dynamically come to life, and where you can learn about the profound depth of Ukiyoe through real prints and explanations.
