One Inch Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Kosuke Shibata) announces the launch of a paid industry report for corporate clients, which organizes and analyzes the latest information regarding the CBD market.
This report will be published quarterly, comprehensively organizing domestic and international regulatory trends, market environments, media reporting cases, and important practical issues in a way that contributes to the practical operations of businesses.
■ Background of the Publication
In recent years, the environment surrounding the CBD market has changed significantly. In Japan, along with legal revisions and operational changes, the understanding and response required from businesses have become increasingly complex. Additionally, overseas, the regulatory trends of each country, distribution environments, accident/administrative responses, and how things are reported are changing daily, and the impact on the Japanese market is not insignificant.
On the other hand, One Inch Inc. believes that the reason the CBD market has not expanded as expected is not simply a matter of demand or interest, but an asymmetry of information.
Many companies involved in the market are forced to rely on fragmented news and image-based understanding, making it difficult to continuously grasp:
"What is actually happening?"
"Which information should be prioritized?"
"How should it be incorporated into practical business operations?"
The issues surrounding CBD cannot be fully captured by simple pros and cons or impressionism. The discussion points that need to be grasped for business promotion are diverse, including news related to THC, discussions on CBN regulations, actual media reports and how they are perceived, administrative responses, and practical judgments on the front lines.
Under these circumstances, in order to correctly understand the market and lead to more appropriate decision-making, we believed an environment where raw, up-to-date information can be continuously and systematically received is necessary, which led to the publication of this report.
■ Main Contents of the Report
This report will cover themes such as the following:
- Latest trends in the domestic CBD market
- Organization of THC-related news and practical perspectives
- Understanding cannabinoid-related issues including CBN regulations
- Overseas systems, markets, accidents, and media reporting trends and their impact on the Japanese market
- How to perceive and respond to actual media reports
- Practical issues that operating companies, distribution stakeholders, and planners should grasp
Rather than just summarizing the news, we aim for content that operating companies, distribution stakeholders, product planners, and related industry professionals can utilize as materials for practical judgments.

It is sometimes said that "CBD is over" or "CBD is dead." Indeed, even looking around at fellow startups that launched around the same time, not many CBD-related companies have continued their business to this day. However, I do not think so. I believe CBD still has great potential and there is ample room for expansion in the Japanese market in the future.
We believe that the current market seems stagnant not because CBD itself lacks potential. It is because a combination of various incidents, the images formed by them, a lack of awareness of specific guidelines following legal revisions, and delays in educational enlightenment have made it difficult for many companies to see what they should understand and how they should respond.
Broadly speaking, the current market lacks raw information.
As a result, it remains difficult for those on the front lines to see "what is actually happening," "how to perceive which information," and "how to deal with risks," leaving them in a situation where they are forced to make judgments in the dark.
In the world, psychoactive ingredients—so-called "getting high" ingredients—are the only ones drawing attention, and a cycle of selling and then being regulated repeats itself. However, the market we are looking at is not there. What we are looking at is a future where CBD can appropriately demonstrate its value in the health and healthcare markets.
To that end, the formation of a sound market is essential. And for that, it is first necessary for stakeholders, including major manufacturers, manufacturing OEMs, and distributors, to know the correct information.
Starting this year, I myself am taking part in creating CBD rules as a staff member of the Cannabidiol Safety and Security Council. Also, through the CBD Parliamentary League, which I have been involved with since its inception, I plan to continue making necessary proposals to create an even larger market in the future.
I firmly believe that another big opportunity will definitely come within a few years. In preparation for that time, we will acquire correct knowledge, deepen the understanding necessary for practical operations, and advance preparations.
I hope this report will be of some help to that end.
We hope to create a sound and sustainable CBD market together.
