Lino Crafts Co., Ltd. (Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Noriko Riku), which operates the Kamakura-produced sakura shell accessory specialty store "Lino Drops Kamakura," will hold its first workshop, "Sakura Hitoe Necklace Production Experience," where participants can craft the popular "Sakura Hitoe" product with their own hands, as a special project for the brand's 10th anniversary in September 2026. The workshop will be fully launched for a limited time starting July 6, 2026 (Mon).
Lino Drops Kamakura is an extremely rare accessory brand in Japan that specializes in sakura shells collected from Yuigahama, Kamakura. This workshop uses these rare sakura shells and is a small-group program (2-4 people per session) where customers can immerse themselves in crafting with their own hands. A trial held in May was fully booked immediately after applications opened. In a survey of participants, everyone responded that "their impression of sakura shells and the sea of Kamakura changed" after the experience, with comments such as "I felt affection even for broken sakura shells" and "I wanted to preserve the sea where we can pick sakura shells," indicating a deep resonance beyond a simple craft experience.
10 Years Since Brand Birth: A Journey of Continuous Engagement with Rare Sakura Shells
Since establishing its store in Kamakura in 2016, Lino Drops Kamakura has continued its activities as a rare specialty store for sakura shell accessories in Japan. Sakura shells are also called "shells that bring good luck," but due to their beauty and fragility, they are easily broken and difficult to use as accessories.
Unprocessed sakura shells collected from the coast of Yuigahama, Kamakura. They are characterized by the delicate pink gradation created by nature.
Lino Drops Kamakura's standard items, which encapsulate the original beauty and brilliance of sakura shells for a long time through unique processing techniques.
We have refined our unique processing techniques through trial and error to encapsulate the beauty of the collected sakura shells as they are, and we are now able to deliver our creations to many customers both domestically and internationally. Our efforts have been recognized in various forms, including the acquisition of patents and utility models, "Kamakura Recommended Product" certification, selection as a Kamakura City hometown tax donation return gift, and adoption as an official commemorative gift presented by Kamakura City to overseas visitors.
This workshop is our first attempt to share our sincere approach to sakura shells, cultivated over 10 years, with our customers.
Background: Delivering "Sakura Shell Time" and Handcraft Beyond the Finished Product (Why an Experiential Format?)
At Lino Drops Kamakura, we have continued to create products that breathe new life into the delicate and rare sakura shells collected from the Kamakura coast using our unique technology. Sakura shells are very fragile, and it takes over a year to turn them into a single accessory, requiring numerous meticulous handcrafting steps such as cleaning, sorting, and drying.
For many years, customers visiting our store have often asked, "How are they made?" and "Where can I pick sakura shells?" On the other hand, there are charms of sakura shells and the individuality of natural materials that cannot be fully conveyed by simply delivering finished products.
This year, as we reach the significant milestone of our 10th anniversary, we decided to launch this workshop with the desire to provide customers with time to quietly engage with sakura shells, not just sell accessories.

Emotion Born from Trial Workshop: "Change in Awareness" and "Blissful Time" Created by the Experience
Prior to the full launch, the trial workshop held on May 18-19, 2026 (with 8 participants) yielded warm feedback and changes in awareness that exceeded our expectations.
【Survey Result Highlights】
Satisfaction: All respondents (100%) answered "Very Satisfied" or "Satisfied."
Change in Awareness: All respondents (100%) answered "My impression of sakura shells and the sea of Kamakura changed from before to after the experience."

【Direct Feedback from Participants (Excerpts from Survey)】

Future Development: Connecting the "Sakura Shell Culture" Nurtured by the Kamakura Sea to the Future
Lino Drops Kamakura aims to develop this workshop as a new cultural experience and sustainable tourism content for Kamakura. In addition to regular sessions at our own store, we are currently in discussions to collaborate with accommodations and travel services in Kamakura. We propose to tourists visiting Kamakura a shift from a "journey to buy things" to a "journey to weave the story of Kamakura's nature with their own hands and leave a deep memory."
We aspire to be a brand that connects the sakura shell culture nurtured by the Kamakura sea to the future, as well as a brand that sells sakura shell accessories. This year, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we will deliver the encounter with sakura shells itself to many people through this workshop.
