We support 'April Dream,' an initiative that encourages people to share their dreams on April 1st. This press release represents the dream of Media Fusion Co., Ltd.

Media Fusion Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka) hereby declares today that through our support project for foreign residents in Japan, 'TalkFun Real,' we will create 100,000 moments by 2030 where foreign residents in Japan feel that 'Japanese is fun' via social media.

■ I noticed something at the Comiket venue
Every year, anime fans from all over the world gather at Tokyo Big Sight. The number of overseas visitors who love Japanese anime continues to grow every year, and seeing overseas cosplayers has now become a common sight at the venue.

However, have you ever seen a scene like this?

An overseas fan dressed in the cosplay of their favorite character makes eye contact with a Japanese circle participant. They approach with a smile. But—the words don't come out. They open a translation app on their smartphone, have an awkward exchange, and in the end, they only manage to share the feeling of 'I like this' before it's over.

Even though they love the same work, the language barrier blocks what could come next.

This is not just a story about the special place that is Comiket. Technical intern trainees and international students working in Japan are standing in front of the same wall every day.

■ Being unable to 'speak' is not the individual's problem
Even if they have passed the N3 or N4 levels of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, many foreigners find themselves thinking, 'I don't know how to respond at work' or 'I'm afraid of making mistakes, so I stay silent.'

There is a large gap between the Japanese learned in textbooks and the Japanese actually spoken in workplaces and daily life. There are many people living in Japan right now who carry the loneliness of only being able to exchange standard greetings, even while seeing the same people at the same workplace every day.

Some of our staff members have personal experience of coming to Japan as technical intern trainees. They know firsthand that the gap between the assumption that 'I'll be able to speak naturally once I get to Japan' and the reality is not a problem of how much one studies, but a problem of having the opportunity to learn usable language.

■ Anime can be the ultimate Japanese textbook
Here, I would like to ask anime fans a question.

You never get tired of hearing the lines from your favorite works, right? Don't you find yourself saying them without even thinking? Words learned along with emotions stay in your body many times longer than words memorized from a textbook—this makes sense from the perspective of language acquisition as well.

Media Fusion Co., Ltd. focused on the power of this anime and character culture and launched the CSR (social contribution) project 'TalkFun Real' in January 2026.

This project, which distributes 'real Japanese expressions' that are hard to find in textbooks via 30-60 second short videos on TikTok and Instagram for free, is not aimed at selling services. We are acting solely so that foreigners currently in Japan can spend their days in Japan a little more happily and with a little more peace of mind.

■ Our Dream
By 2030, we will create 100,000 moments where foreign residents in Japan feel that 'Japanese is fun' through TalkFun Real's social media. We hope that the catalyst for that will be the lines from your favorite anime.

▷ Past: The origin is the experience of staff who came to Japan as interns
The 'loneliness of being unable to speak' and the 'gap in real-world Japanese' felt by our own staff are the starting point of this project.

▷ Present: TalkFun Real, launched
Since January 2026, we have been distributing free Japanese short videos utilizing anime and characters on TikTok and Instagram Reels. We are currently operating mainly in Vietnamese and English.

▷ Future: Toward a multilingual x charity community
We aim to expand to multiple languages such as Portuguese and build a 'charity-style community' that connects with language support volunteers and translation collaborators. We want everyone who loves anime to be able to share that love with someone else.

■ What you can do
If you resonate with this, please follow TalkFun Real's social media and share our videos with someone. Just by doing that, the daily life of a foreigner somewhere in Japan might change a little.

We also welcome language support volunteers, translation collaborators, and partnerships with companies and organizations at any time. If you would like to 'join us,' please feel free to contact us.
