"Digitize Business Cards on the Spot" - Developed an "AI Business Card Management App" for Exhibitions. Utilized at the "AI Expo Nagoya 2026" Venue Operations.

Mukuil Inc. (Location: Sumida-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Ryuga Irie) has developed an in-house business card management app that handles everything from OCR capture of business cards to input and organization of interview details, in order to streamline the management of business cards acquired at exhibitions. This app was utilized for the operation of our own booth at the "AI Expo Nagoya 2026" exhibition (Dates: June 16-17, 2026 / Venue: Nagoya Convention Hall).

This app was developed internally to resolve the "struggle with piles of business cards" and "personalization of input tasks" encountered in our company's exhibition operations.

It addresses issues faced by staff at exhibition venues, such as:

"The burden of manually entering the large volume of business cards collected during the exhibition after the event."

"Information gathered during business card exchanges (challenges, interest levels) being fragmented between notes and the business cards themselves."

"Management in inconsistent formats, leading to delays in initial follow-up."

By replacing these with a workflow of Capture → OCR → On-the-spot Input → Centralized Management, it facilitates smoother lead follow-up after the exhibition.

Background: The on-site challenge at exhibitions of "Business cards are collected, but not fully utilized."

While exhibitions are valuable opportunities to meet many leads, processing the large number of business cards collected during the event is a common challenge that troubles many staff members each time. At the venue, staff are often only able to receive business cards and conduct brief interviews. Detailed input is typically done in bulk after the event, which tends to result in:

Delays in initial follow-up due to the time taken for business card input and deduplication.

"The other party's challenges" and "next action items" obtained during business card exchanges being lost as verbal notes.

Input tasks becoming concentrated on specific staff members, leading to personalization.

Our company has experienced these challenges firsthand in our own exhibition operations. While introducing commercially available tools was an option, we decided to develop the app in-house, prioritizing the ability to perfectly match our company's operational flow (who, which items, to which recipients) and to quickly implement improvements on-site.

What the Business Card Management App Can Do

The app is designed with the goal of enabling on-site exhibition staff to "take a photo of a business card and complete the process on the spot."

Digitize Business Cards on the Spot (OCR Capture) Simply by taking a photo of a business card with a camera, company name, name, contact information, address, etc., are automatically extracted. We have refined the accuracy of the character recognition (OCR) to handle horizontal and vertical text, mixed English and Japanese, and even low-resolution business cards.

Input and Manage Interview Details Alongside Business Card Information In addition to business card information, interview details heard on the spot can be entered on the same screen. It supports cases where information from multiple people is handled from a single business card, as well as draft saving and resuming later, preventing input omissions even in the busy environment of an exhibition.

Consolidate Directly to Internal Management Destinations After Input Lead information that has been entered is consolidated into the internally defined management destination (spreadsheet). There is no need to re-enter everything from scratch after the exhibition, allowing for immediate follow-up.

Future Outlook

We received a great response from the many visitors to our booth at this exhibition. The smooth processing of business cards acquired during the event using the app provided an opportunity to experience the effectiveness of our in-house tool firsthand.
