About the "Digital Drop" Series

Since 2010, with the rapid spread of smartphones and the internet, digital publishing has become deeply integrated into society across all genres. It is also becoming a tool to assist people with disabilities, such as visual impairments or mobility issues, in their reading. The "Digital Drop" series explores the further possibilities of digital publishing through numerous real-world examples, including those in education and reading accessibility. Can "Each Drop of Digital" help publishing regain its diversity? This series introduces the philosophies and activities of those involved.

* "Drop" is inspired by a hummingbird named Kirikindi from a South American folktale, which tries to extinguish a forest fire by carrying water in its beak, one drop at a time.

Founded in 1992. A joint venture with Voyager USA. Now an independent company. Voyager was a pioneer in digital publishing in Japan and has continued to develop the market to this day. It is the developer of ExpandBook, T-Time, and dotBook. Recognizing the shift of digital publishing to the web, Voyager strengthened its digital publishing activities based on internet browsers from 2010. It launched the e-book reader BinB (Books in Browsers), the digital publishing tool Romancer, and the archive utilization solution Gaze-On. At the same time, it emphasizes international standards for formats in web publishing and participates in IDPF (International Digital Publishing Forum) and W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). It also promotes the EPUB Japanese Standards Research Group (EPUBJP). Upholding the belief that "publishing is a medium for everyone," Voyager continues its activities to contribute new era technologies and methods to many people through its own book publishing activities and commissioned production and sales services for other companies' works.
