ANA Crowne Plaza Toyama (Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture; General Manager: Shinobu Morikawa) will collaborate with Uozu Aquarium (Uozu City, Toyama Prefecture), the oldest existing aquarium in Japan, to hold a summer sweets buffet titled 'Uo-Sweets: Uozu Aquarium's Favorite Creatures Transformed into Sweets!!'. In this project, we will offer sweets featuring motifs of creatures recommended by the Uozu Aquarium staff, and hold an interactive event where guests can enjoy searching for Uozu Aquarium friends while strolling through the lobby. From children to adults, guests can enjoy a special summer moment while feeling close to the creatures of Uozu Aquarium. Through the sweets and events, we aim to create an opportunity for guests to encounter the charm of these creatures and feel inspired to 'go see the real ones next time.' Under the theme 'From the mountain streams of the Northern Alps to the deep sea of Toyama Bay,' it exhibits about 330 species, including creatures unique to Toyama Bay and deep-sea life. In addition to focusing on exhibits that convey the charm of Toyama Bay, such as ecological research on firefly squid, the warm exhibits that reflect the unique perspectives of the breeding staff are also appealing. Furthermore, the facility features numerous hand-drawn illustrations and explanations by the breeding staff, delicately conveying their love and passion for the creatures. Moreover, under the theme 'Speaking of sushi, it's Toyama,' unique explanation panels introducing aquarium fish as 'sushi toppings' and limited-time events are held, scattering ideas throughout the facility so that both adults and children can learn about creatures while having fun. In this project, by focusing on the creatures recommended by the Uozu Aquarium staff, we aimed to create an experience that leads to opportunities not just to 'see' the creatures, but to 'know' and 'take an interest' in them. Using sweets as an entry point, we will develop this as a summer-only event where guests can feel familiar with the aquarium and the creatures of Toyama Bay. In the 1F lobby, we will hold an interactive event for children called 'Find the Friends of Uozu Aquarium!', where they search for popular creatures from the aquarium and collect keywords. This is an experiential event where participants walk around the Uozu Aquarium creature panels set up in the lobby, collect the letters written on the panels, and complete a keyword. Children who complete the keyword and apply will receive a participation prize.
