(Headquarters: Kita-Hiroshima Town, Hiroshima Prefecture), which operates the fully rented traditional house accommodation "hitaru Ishibashi-tei" in Kita-Hiroshima Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, has newly established a private sauna renovated from a storehouse remaining on the premises and will begin offering it from July 1, 2026.

The long-unused storehouse has been utilized and reborn into a space equipped with an authentic sauna featuring a Finnish HARVIA stove, a cold plunge pool, an outdoor bathing deck overlooking Mt. Kagehi, and an open-air bath.

Through a new accommodation experience integrating a traditional house, open-air bath, and storehouse sauna, we aim to create a facility where guests can feel the rich nature and charm of the satoyama in Kita-Hiroshima Town.

Transforming a Storehouse Over 100 Years Old into a Space of New Value

The storehouse, over 100 years old, has been reborn into a sauna space that creates new experiential value, utilizing its original doors.

A storehouse that had been used for many years remained on the grounds of Ishibashi-tei.

We wanted this building to be something whose value is passed down through actual use and experience, rather than simply being preserved.

Therefore, we have renovated the interior while preserving the exterior appearance and historical charm of the storehouse, and reborn it as a private sauna adapted to modern accommodation styles.

This is a new form of regional resource utilization made possible by hitaru, which has been involved in the renovation of traditional houses.

An Authentic Sauna Space Unfolds Beyond the Storehouse Doors

The interior of the storehouse is designed with the image of a cave created by nature over many years.

The plastered walls with soft curves and indirect lighting create a quiet, enveloping space, contrasting with the storehouse's solid exterior.

The sauna room is equipped with a stove from the Finnish sauna brand "HARVIA." It also supports self-löyly, allowing users to enjoy the sauna experience at their own pace while enjoying the steam and aroma.

We have also paid attention to the flow after using the sauna, consolidating the following within the storehouse:

hitaru Ishibashi-tei is a fully rented accommodation renovated from the residence of a swordsmith that is over 200 years old and remains in Kita-Hiroshima Town, Hiroshima Prefecture.

Opened in 2023 with the concept of "staying that deeply connects with the local life and scenery."

We are working to create accommodation spaces where guests can experience the charm of the region while utilizing existing architectural assets such as traditional houses and storehouses.

Future Outlook

hitaru is promoting initiatives to provide unique local experiences by leveraging the buildings and culture remaining in the region.

This storehouse sauna is part of that effort, representing a new challenge that balances the utilization of historical architecture with the enhancement of tourism experiences.
