【June 14 (Sun) Held】Koji Honma Retirement Match

Mito HollyHock is pleased to announce that the retirement match for Koji Honma, a club legend who retired from active play at the end of the 2024 season and now serves as the General Manager, will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at K's denki Stadium Mito.

Koji Honma's Comment:
The concept of this retirement match is 'It's not a farewell, it's a challenge.'
I considered a simple farewell match, but witnessing last year's J2 championship and J1 promotion results ignited something within me.
As a player, I couldn't fulfill the dream of 'Koji to J1' that supporters had long hoped for.
That's why I chose this title, wanting to challenge the current Mito HollyHock, which competes in J1, to a serious match once again.
On the day of the match, my former teammates will be assembled as 'KOJI ALL STARS' to play against Mito HollyHock's top team.
I will play for both teams, aiming to convey the passion of this match from both inside and outside the pitch.
I believe that seeing me defend Mito HollyHock's goal one last time is my way of showing gratitude.
I feel a strong sense of destiny to be able to hold my retirement match at this time, when the club is playing in J1.
I would be delighted if many people could witness my last 90 minutes as a player at the stadium.
