At this exhibition, we will for the first time display an 18K gold orin (Buddhist bell) crafted by traditional artisan Muneteru Kamikawa.
Muneteru Kamikawa was born in Taito-ku, known as a city of craftsmanship.
Taito-ku has a history of many temples and shrines since the Edo period, developing as a region where artisans of Buddhist altar fittings and silverware gathered.
We invite you to experience the sound and presence of the orin, which inherits such a lineage, at the venue.
We offer a total of 5 types, from 2 sun to 4 sun, allowing you to enjoy the unique weight of gold and its clear resonance.
From a field different from jewelry, we introduce it as an item that combines universal value and beauty.
Traditional Craftsman / Silversmith Muneteru Kamikawa
Silversmith. Born in 1945.
Studied under his father, the first Muneteru Kamikawa. Succeeded as the second generation in 1977.
Received numerous awards, including the Medal for Outstanding Skills, the Prince Higashikuni Culture Award, and the Yellow Ribbon Medal, for his outstanding achievements over half a century.
Based on techniques inherited continuously from Edo to Tokyo, he strives daily to pass on his skills as a silversmith who responds to customers' needs in line with the times.
