Hotel New Otani Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Hajime Shimizu; hereinafter, Hotel New Otani), which operates the "New Otani Club," and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Club Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Nobuaki Yamaguchi; hereinafter, Diners Club), which issues Diners Club cards, will begin accepting applications for the "New Otani Club Diners Premium Card" from Monday, May 18, 2026.

Background of the "New Otani Club Diners Premium Card" Issuance

In the affluent market, both domestically and internationally, needs have shifted from mere "mono consumption" to "koto consumption" (experiential consumption), demanding high-value experiences. Particularly in Japan, there is a growing demand for wellness experiences to maintain physical and mental health, with value being placed on more "essential" things that offer trust and security. In response to this demand, the credit card industry has seen a rapid increase in the need for high-class cards that provide special experiences and services. Against this backdrop, Hotel New Otani and Diners Club, based on a relationship of trust spanning over half a century since their partnership began in 1970, developed this card to provide "authentic" experiences. The "New Otani Club," established in 1964 as Japan's first full-fledged hotel membership organization, and Diners Club, which issued Japan's first multi-purpose credit card in 1960. In 2026, the 31st year since the launch of the "New Otani Club Diners Card," these two brands will introduce the "New Otani Club Diners Premium Card," offering the highest level of hospitality woven by their combined strengths.
