Trek Inc. (Tokyo, Katsushika / CEO: Yoko Yamamoto) is currently holding a spatial experience exhibition, 'Let's Play! The World of Gomi Taro's Picture Books,' at 'Micca: The Library of Pictures and Words,' a children's library planned and operated by the company, where visitors can feel as if they have stepped into the world of a picture book.

We have received a warm response from all our visitors, and the exhibition period has now been extended. We hope this will provide more children with the opportunity to experience the world of picture books. The exhibition period has been extended until Sunday, June 28, 2026, and we look forward to your visit.

Gomi Taro, a picture book author who has created over 400 picture books and captivated people worldwide. This exhibition features seven of his picture book works, including his representative work 'Kingyo ga Nigeta' (The Goldfish Escapes), the 'Game Book' series that makes thinking fun, and his latest work 'Boku wa Fune' (I Am a Ship), which won the Grand Prize at the 30th Japan Picture Book Award.

Gomi Taro's picture books do not impose 'you must do this' or 'you must do it well.'

With every turn of the page, you might chuckle or be surprised. Gomi Taro's playful spirit, embodying both a vibrant youth and a contemplative adult, conveys a sense of reassurance: 'This is good.' We realize that always following one's own sensibilities and finding joy in things powerfully supports the act of 'living.'

This exhibition unfolds in two venues: a public exhibition that anyone can view, and an indoor exhibition for Micca visitors. Immerse yourself in Gomi Taro's world through experiences such as spaces that make you feel like you've entered a picture book, interactive installations for playing and thinking, and exhibits that allow visitors to participate.

What is 'Micca: The Library of Pictures and Words'?

Opened in April 2018, this is a library for children.
As a new form of library operated through public-private partnership, it is a small space with a capacity of about 80 people, yet it attracts over 57,000 visitors annually. Including related exhibitions and events, the total number of visitors exceeds 700,000, drawing attention from all over Japan.

Features of Micca

• A Place Centered on Children
A special space where children are the protagonists and can feel safe and secure, inaccessible to adults alone.
(*Parental accompaniment is permitted. Also, during 'Otona Micca' held on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, individuals aged 16 and over can enter alone.)

• A Library of Expression and Experience

Incorporating an atelier, theater, and gallery. It's a library that connects users to diverse forms of expression in daily life, going beyond just reading books.

• Unique Selection and Spatial Design

A curated selection of books that transcends genres and age, and bookshelves and spaces designed to foster unexpected encounters with books.

• Programs Without Right or Wrong Answers

Creative experiential programs that nurture excitement and a spirit of inquiry.

We aim to be a library that supports children in encountering books in their daily lives, becoming familiar with them, journeying through the world of stories, and expanding their own unique worlds.
