[Activity Report] The 3rd Term of the 'High School Selected Research League,' a Mitsubishi Mirai Ikusei Foundation Grant Project, Concludes!

Twice Research Institute (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kimika Meguro) has concluded the 3rd term of the 'High School Selected Research League' (October 2025 - February 2026), a program for high school students with contest experience both domestically and internationally, which was adopted as a 2023 Mitsubishi Mirai Ikusei Foundation grant project (Category 3).

This program is an online practical inquiry-based learning program that spans half a year, tackling challenges in three fields: "Arts and Creativity," "Global Issues," and "Entrepreneurship."

The cumulative number of participants has reached 282 over three years, establishing it as a place for learning across school boundaries.

This program has steadily expanded its scale over three years, with a format where participants change each term.

In the 3rd term, implemented in 2025, 24 teams and a total of 90 students from across the country participated.

■ Program Overview and Features

This program is characterized by a design that allows students to continue demonstrating initiative even in an online environment.

◎ Three Inquiry Themes: Students work on challenges for approximately half a year in three fields: "Arts and Creativity," "Global Issues," and "Entrepreneurship."

"Arts and Creativity": Focuses on "What is creativity?" and approaches the most fundamental questions about art and craftsmanship.

"Global Issues": Tackles global-scale themes, gaining an understanding of world issues that is not just sensory or data-driven, but accompanied by personal experience.

"Entrepreneurship": Explores the spirit of entrepreneurship, following the path of pioneering the future through business, and personally learning the power of realization applicable in the real world.

◎ Mutual Evaluation System: Participating teams create presentation videos, and in addition to evaluation by external judges, mutual peer review and feedback are also conducted among participating students. Students train their thinking and expressive skills over half a year while competing with their peers. Exposure to expert knowledge and peer perspectives serves as motivation for the next season.

■ Outcome Analysis: Students' Perceived Skill Improvement

Post-program questionnaire results show that many students felt an improvement in non-cognitive skills required in real society.

This is a result of learning that goes beyond mere knowledge acquisition, connecting to actual action through dialogue with team members, rivals from other schools, and experts.

■ Future Outlook: Aiming for the Construction of a Sustainable Learning Community

The 'High School Selected Research League' envisions further development into a richer community. The aim is to form a sustainable and autonomous community for solving social issues, where students who graduate from the program can support the learning of current high school students as mentors in the future, or share research outcomes after higher education through a dedicated alumni network.
