TV Asahi Announces "sumika × Toichiro Ruto CINEMA & LIVE," a New Live Event Fusing Music and Film!

TV Asahi is proud to announce a new live event that fuses music and video: "sumika × Toichiro Ruto CINEMA & LIVE." This performance will combine a one-man live show by sumika with a short film produced by a team of professional filmmakers. It challenges a new form of entertainment, transcending the boundaries of a typical music concert to become a "live performance where you experience a story." The film presented during the live show is a completely original story produced for this event. It will expand upon the narrative and worldview inherent in sumika's music through cinematic expression, creating a special stage where the entire live space can be experienced as a single work of art. The direction is handled by film director Toichiro Ruto, who has created numerous hit works such as the "Ossan's Love" series and the drama series "unknown." He is a creator drawing significant attention, with the streaming drama "Stove League" starring Kazuya Kamenashi becoming a hot topic in 2026, and the upcoming release of the movie "High School Family" starring Shingo Katori. Please come and experience this special time, for two days only, where the music of sumika, the story woven by the film, and the energy of the live performance merge together. --- ## ■ sumika Profile The band, from Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, consists of Kenta Kataoka (Vo./Gt.), Tomoyuki Arai (Dr./Cho.), and Takayuki Ogawa (Key./Cho.). They formed in May 2013 with the hope of becoming a "sumika" (a dwelling/home) for various people. --- ## ■ Director Toichiro Ruto Profile Born March 20, 1979, from Hyogo Prefecture. He began his career as a video director, and after directing variety shows, he expanded his activities to dramas and films. In 2018, he won the Best Director award at the 97th The Television Drama Academy Awards for the drama "Ossan's Love," and in 2023, he won the 97th Kinema Junpo Best Ten - Readers' Choice Japanese Film Director Award for the movie "G-Men." His latest work, the movie "High School Family," is scheduled for release in or after the fall of 2026.
