ALLOUT, a 'Muscle Gentleman Group' operated by Smile Academy Co., Ltd. (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture / Tokyo), will once again participate in the 'Yukake Festival' to be held on May 23rd in Yugawara Onsen, Kanagawa Prefecture. The muscle men will strip off their shirts and come to energize the festival!

After performing 'Muscle Bon Odori' and a princess carry & photo session, they will also perform by having hot water splashed on them in the hot water splashing area.

**Guaranteed to Get Wet! What is Yugawara's 'Yukake Festival'?**
The portable shrine parades through the hot spring town while being showered with 'hot water'.
Along the roadside, 1,000 barrels containing hot spring 'water' and approximately 5,000 hot water buckets are prepared, and spectators vigorously douse the portable shrine with about 60 tons of hot water. The bearers quickly get drenched from head to toe.
Both the spectators splashing water and the bearers being splashed wear big smiles, making it a representative seasonal tradition of Yugawara where the shrine bearers and roadside spectators unite in excitement.

The origin of the 'Yukake Festival' dates back to the Edo period. It is said to have begun with the ancient custom of filling barrels with hot spring water, due to its high efficacy, and presenting it to daimyo families and imperial villas.
At that time, there was a ritual of splashing hot water and performing purification (oharai) to pray for safety during the journey, prior to the departure of the portable shrine carrying the hot water offering. The current 'Yukake Festival' is a reenactment of this.
As a traditional festival representing Yugawara, with its origins in the Tokugawa era, it is held grandly every year in Yugawara.
