SUKUUS (Sukus) is a skincare line born from repeated prototyping and testing, inspired by azelaic acid. On the day, we will share the behind-the-scenes development story, the meaning behind the brand name, and the philosophy of creating skincare that addresses skin concerns.

What is SUKUUS (Sukus)?

SUKUUS (Sukus) is a skincare brand dedicated exclusively to azelaic acid, born from the idea of 'saving tomorrow.'

Mari Kuse, the brand owner who has struggled with oily skin, discovered azelaic acid while addressing her own skin issues. Captivated by its potential, she began an in-depth exploration of the ingredient.

Motivated by the desire to help others with similar concerns, she spent a full year collecting azelaic acid-based cosmetics from Japan and abroad. Through rigorous testing on her own skin, she verified their textures and characteristics, eventually creating an original comparison map.

This journey began with a deep passion and love for azelaic acid.

Our Philosophy in Formulating with Azelaic Acid

SUKUUS carefully selects the concentration of azelaic acid, as well as the accompanying ingredients and formulation types, to address specific skin concerns while respecting the ingredient's properties. We continuously develop our products, incorporating our own experiences and user feedback.

We go beyond simply including azelaic acid; we are committed to creating products that can be comfortably used every day. Our goal is to achieve a balance between effective results and a pleasant sensory experience.

Driven by the principle of 'only bringing to life what we can truly stand behind with confidence,' we have launched six products in less than a year since the brand's inception. The '#Shokucos Festival 2026' is an experiential event where attendees can directly engage with the craftsmanship and the creators' passion behind cosmetics.

It is a space where visitors can 'see, hear, and experience' the aspects of product development that cannot be conveyed through advertisements or packaging alone—such as formulation design, ingredient selection, dedication to texture, and the brand's origin story.

Questions like:

—will be answered directly by the developer. We will also present parts of the development process that are not typically visible in the final products.
