From SHIRO's popular "Yuzu Series" skincare products, "Aoyuzu Rich Oil-in-Water" is now available in limited quantities. This new product is packed with the nutrients of "aoyuzu" (green yuzu), which is rich in natural ingredients that protect itself, and has 1.5 times the amount of essential oil*1 compared to "Yuzu Oil-in-Water."

The "Yuzu Series" has been highly praised by many customers. The standard product uses "kiyuzu" (yellow yuzu) cultivated by Kogane no Mura in the Kito region of Tokushima Prefecture, known for its rich aroma. Ripe yellow yuzu has a sweet, mellow aroma and acidity, and its peel and seeds are said to contain components that provide high moisturizing power.

On the other hand, the aoyuzu used this time is an immature fruit thinned out during the cultivation of yellow yuzu to promote the growth of young trees. Young, fresh aoyuzu has a refreshing, crisp aroma. Its peel is thinner than yellow yuzu, and it is rich in polyphenols that protect itself, making it a fruit with antioxidant properties that prevents damage from UV rays and dryness.

To deliver the full benefits of aoyuzu, we have formulated it with distilled water*2 and essential oil*1 from the peel, as well as fruit juice*3 and seed extract*4. Furthermore, to allow you to fully enjoy the refreshing aroma unique to aoyuzu, we have increased the amount of essential oil*1 by 1.5 times compared to "Yuzu Oil-in-Water." With each spray, a fine mist envelops the skin in moisture, balancing oil and water while leading to a radiant complexion.

A highly moisturizing, two-layer facial mist formulated with distilled water*2 extracted from aoyuzu peel, 1.5 times the amount of essential oil*1 found in "Yuzu Oil-in-Water," plus fruit juice*3 and seed extract*4. The moment you spray it, the refreshing, tart aroma unique to aoyuzu spreads pleasantly. The fine mist moisturizes the skin, leading to a refined and healthy condition with continued use. It replenishes both oil and moisture in balance, so feel free to use it generously on your face, hair, and body wherever dryness is a concern. Its dewy texture makes it perfect for refreshing your skin during hot and humid seasons when stickiness is a concern.

[HOW TO] Shake the product well to mix the two layers.

Spray an appropriate amount from about 20cm away from your skin, then gently pat it in with your palms.

STORY

The development of "Aoyuzu Rich Oil-in-Water" began when the popularity of the standard skincare "Yuzu Series" led to a shortage of yuzu, prompting us to explore new ingredients. During this time, we received a proposal from Kogane no Mura, a producer of Kito yuzu, asking if "the thinned-out aoyuzu could be utilized."

Yuzu is typically harvested when the fruit turns yellow. However, if young trees bear too much fruit, it affects their growth. Therefore, thinning is done to reduce the burden on the trees. These young, small fruits have delicate peels that are easily damaged, and selection and harvesting are labor-intensive, resulting in only a small amount being available for distribution. Consequently, much of the aoyuzu had no destination. With the desire to save this aoyuzu and transform it into a product, the trial production of "Aoyuzu Rich Oil-in-Water" began.

The appeal of aoyuzu lies in its power to protect its own fruit as it prepares to turn yellow, and its refreshing, slightly tart aroma that conveys the vibrant energy of a young fruit. We wanted you to fully enjoy the goodness of aoyuzu, so we used the entire fruit, repeatedly reviewed the amount of essential oil*1, and continuously explored the balance of aroma diffusion and skin compatibility to arrive at the current formulation.

This exceptionally fragrant oil-in-water, made from rare aoyuzu that had no place to go, is an item born from SHIRO's unique approach to manufacturing, valuing producer relationships and serendipitous encounters. Aoyuzu / Kogane no Mura (Kito District, Tokusima Prefecture)

"Aoyuzu," thinned out to promote the growth of young trees during the cultivation of Kito yuzu, known for its rich aroma and strong acidity. At Kogane no Mura, it can only be harvested for about two weeks just before autumn when the fruit begins to turn yellow, making it a very rare ingredient. It is characterized by its young, crisp, and refreshing aroma, and its fruit is said to be rich in vitamin C and polyphenols.
