Systems Co., Ltd., a company engaged in IT modernization, migration, and system integration, has launched its “Legacy System Modernization Service for North America” to help solve legacy system challenges at North American locations of Japanese companies. The company will also hold an online webinar for Japanese companies on June 17, 2026, to promote understanding of the service. Systems announced its legacy system modernization initiative for the North American market on April 3 last year and has since been advancing its North American expansion by applying migration and modernization expertise developed in Japan. Through interviews and outreach with partner companies and local businesses in North America, Systems identified many challenges in the local system operations of Japanese companies with North American sites. Specific issues include systems operated by local subsidiaries becoming black boxes over many years, Japanese headquarters being unable to grasp the current state of those systems, and modernization plans failing to progress due to shortages of local IT personnel. Many companies said they recognize the issues but do not know where to begin. In recent years, Japanese companies with North American operations have faced growing needs for system renewal and cloud migration against the backdrop of aging local systems, black-boxed operations, and talent shortages. At the same time, time-zone differences, language barriers, and coordination with local organizations have made it difficult to conduct impact assessments and create migration plans, leaving more companies unsure of where to start. The service for North American sites covers asset visualization and current-state analysis, impact assessment and migration planning, and migration execution support. Systems will inventory source code, data, and interfaces; use AI for analysis and system visualization; extract specification information and turn it into reusable assets. It will also analyze the impact on functions, data, and surrounding systems; design phased migration and parallel operation; organize schedules, teams, and risks; support project execution through PMO assistance; collaborate with North American partners; and support operational design and knowledge transfer. Key features include a Japan-led remote execution model that balances controlled project management with cost efficiency by driving projects from Japan; collaboration with North American partners in areas requiring local support; and AI-powered acceleration of modernization by analyzing and visualizing black-boxed systems to speed up research, design, and decision-making. Systems will host a free webinar explaining the service and the reality of IT challenges at North American sites. The webinar will be held online from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 17, 2026. It is intended for personnel in IT departments and DX promotion departments at Japanese companies. Main topics include IT challenges in the North American market and the current situation of Japanese companies, approaches to legacy system visualization and AI use, how to proceed with modernization for North America, and practical examples of Japan-led execution models. Systems said it will continue supporting Japanese companies in solving global IT challenges by combining its “GEMBA x IT” approach with modernization technologies and field capabilities developed in Japan. Founded in 1969, Systems Co., Ltd. has provided services closely aligned with customer sites, from system development and infrastructure construction to maintenance and operations, for more than half a century. The company specializes in migration, bridging legacy technologies with modern technologies and supporting productivity improvement and business transformation.
