Myuto Morita Covers Seiko Matsuda's 'Komorebi no Mermaid'! [Sun Music Records Revive Project]

Seiko Matsuda, Yu Hayami, Yukiko Okada — the 'Sun Music Records Revive Project' aims to shed light on Sun Music's aspect as a 'music production company,' which produced numerous popular singers and idols from the 1970s to the 1980s, and deliver its excellent musical assets to the younger generation in Japan and music fans around the world.

The Sun Music Records Revive Project, which welcomed Takumi Yuge, active as a fashion designer, art director, and record store owner, as its label producer, launched last year.

To date, the project has released the first installment, Kengo Kakudate of YOGEE NEW WAVES covering Seiko Matsuda's 'Hitomi wa Diamond,' the second installment, FNCY's sampling of Anri's 'Last Summer Whisper' with the song 'Baby Love,' and the third installment, Tokimeki Records fea. JU!iE covering Anri's 'Fly By Day.' Following these, the fourth installment features Myuto Morita, active as a solo artist and model. This work, his first general distribution release under his own name, is a cover of Seiko Matsuda's 'Komorebi no Mermaid,' selected by Morita himself. Morita describes this summer classic, which he says 'feels like a nostalgic breeze ruffling your hair, it's irresistible,' as being respectfully arranged under the production of his close friend, singer/artist SPENSR.

Ahead of the CD release on Wednesday, July 1, the song will be digitally pre-released on various streaming sites starting Wednesday, June 17.

Future plans include holding release events and releasing a 7-inch analog record.

Born October 31, 1995

Started entertainment activities at age 10. After working as a member of a boy group, he became independent in 2023. In November 2021, he established 'FLATLAND,' a project to give shape to his ideas, and began full-scale solo activities.

In addition to expressing himself through music and dance as an artist, his activities are diverse, including expressive activities such as painting and photography, and being appointed as a visual model by numerous fashion brands. He has also worked on projects such as announcing a collection using his own photographs for 'Ground Y' and creating art pieces for the opening of a new New Balance store.

He released his 1st EP 'SIKI' in 2024 and his 2nd EP '29' in October 2025. In November of the same year, he successfully held his first solo live at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM, where he announced his first national tour 'Myuto Morita Live Tour 2026.' The tour finale was held at Shibuya WWW X on May 12.
