Two group companies received the same training on the same day, in the same location.

SK Word Co., Ltd. (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) and Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing Co., Ltd. (same location) jointly participated in the "Project Boost! 1DAY" program, designed to enhance project promotion capabilities, offered by Copilot Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Motoi Sadakane) on May 29, 2026. A total of 17 employees from both companies (9 from SK Word, 8 from Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing) participated, marking an initiative to create a "common language" for project promotion across the group.

Copilot has been involved in projects that span multiple teams, departments, and organizations. "Project Boost! 1DAY" condenses Copilot's 20 years of experience and practical knowledge from supporting over 100 projects into a one-day, self-contained program. This event demonstrated a new form of organizational development in group management, where group companies with different business domains and organizational cultures align their promotion capabilities through a unified program.

Why Was It Conducted as a Joint Group Event?

Different Business Companies Faced the Same Challenges

SK Word focuses on communication support (branding, web, multilingual support, etc.), while Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing specializes in publishing legal practice books. Their business content differs significantly.

However, both companies shared challenges in project promotion as "operational projects" became more prevalent. These included unclear goals, slow decision-making due to many stakeholders, and plans not proceeding as expected. While these are issues faced by many companies regardless of industry, if the structural nature of the challenges is similar between group companies, it makes sense to create "teams that can speak the same language." This was the judgment made.

As the project environment changes, the methods of execution must also evolve. Recognizing this importance, efforts have been made to improve project promotion. This culture, which has been alive at SK Word since its founding in 1963, has now taken a step forward as a group-wide initiative.

Reason for Choosing "Project Boost! 1DAY": Designed to Change "Promotion Habits" in One Day

"Project Boost! 1DAY," chosen by SK Word and Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing, is a program that condenses practical knowledge, extracted from Copilot's experience supporting over 100 companies, into a single day.

While many training programs comprehensively cover project management methodologies, "Project Boost! 1DAY" specializes in equipping participants with the "attitude and habits to move forward even with unclear or changing goals" within a single day. It is designed for immediate practical application, changing how meetings are conducted and decisions are made from the very next day.

Overview of Content Covered

Three Stances Conveyed by the Program

Stance

Content

On-site Change

Decide and Try Provisionally

Advance by accumulating provisional decisions without waiting for a perfect plan.

Reduces "Let me take this back and consider it," leading to faster decision-making in meetings.

Start Small with What You Can Do

Narrow the scope and create a sense of progress through small achievements.

Enables action instead of stopping at "I can't do everything."

Look at Both Yourself and the Environment

Create a system where the team can operate, rather than relying solely on individual effort.

Resolves issues of over-reliance on specific individuals, leading to a team that can function even if someone is absent.

Three Stances Conveyed by the Program

Changes Observed After Implementation

*The following are statistics based on the responses of 16 out of 17 participants who answered the survey.

Quantitative Changes

100%

Percentage of respondents who answered "Can be applied to work" in the participant survey. All 16 individuals responded positively, with zero negative responses.

4.4 points

Satisfaction with training content (average on a 5-point scale). The percentage of respondents who answered "Satisfied" (4-5 points) was 88%.

+1.1 points

Increase in self-evaluation of project promotion capabilities (average of 4 items). Before training: 2.5 points → After training: 3.6 points. Zero items showed a decrease in evaluation.

*"Can be applied to work" is the result of a question in the post-training survey asking about the likelihood of practical application on a 5-point scale (1=Not likely to be applicable at all ~ 5=Very likely to be applicable), where all participants responded on the "likely to be applicable" side (4-5).

Qualitative Changes

Free-response comments in the post-training survey included many specific insights aligned with the three stances conveyed by the program.

It was beneficial to participate with individuals from completely different industries and job roles. Their perspectives on how to proceed and what to expect were different and educational.

I learned how to start project management minimally, and the knowledge gained was immediately applicable, which was very educational.

Even for content that was vaguely understood or heard before, articulating it in practice led to many new insights.

The discussion on "Meeting Design and Facilitation" was very informative. Many meetings end vaguely, so I will try to be conscious of sharing the agenda in advance and aligning perceptions.

I usually have a lot of routine work and don't create roadmaps within my department, so learning the importance of roadmaps was beneficial. I learned that by writing things down on sticky notes and organizing them, my role becomes clear, and I want to apply this in my actual work.

Comments

Tomohiko Ito, Executive Officer, SK Word Co., Ltd.

"We have been working on improving project promotion with Copilot's support, but the members who could actually experience it were limited, and company-wide penetration was a challenge. By participating jointly with our group company, Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing, this time, we gained exposure to the perspectives of people involved in different types of work, and even members who had already gained experience had many new insights. Sharing the difficulties we face in our respective fields and creating a common language for project promotion is the first step towards future joint projects. We have had few opportunities to discuss how to proceed with projects at the initiation stage, and this has become a significant catalyst for members to discuss how to move towards the goal."

Yoshiki Mori, Executive Manager, Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing Co., Ltd.

"Our company, which focuses on publishing legal practice books and legal tech solutions, has traditionally placed a strong emphasis on certainty due to the nature of our work. However, we felt an urgent need to "transform project promotion methods" that are not bound by past approaches in order to create new value in a rapidly changing environment. Participating jointly with SK Word, a company with a different business domain, is a solid first step towards creating synergy across the entire group, transcending organizational boundaries. Through the program, we experienced the mindset of "advancing based on hypotheses without waiting for a perfect plan" and created a common language among group companies. Going forward, we will incorporate this practical knowledge into our on-site decision-making processes and further accelerate the development and provision of digital services that solve legal practice challenges with high agility."

Keita Yamashita, Project Boost! Business Lead, Copilot Inc.

"When members from different departments or organizations gather, their perspectives often differ, making it difficult to reach a consensus on goals. This time, as staff from SK Word and Shin Nippon Hokki Publishing participated jointly, we were able to work together to gradually align directions through cross-group dialogue. A common language for project promotion is essential precisely for moving across organizational boundaries. We want to deliver this knowledge to more cross-departmental and cross-organizational initiatives."

A New Form of Organizational Development in Group Management

The approach of parent and subsidiary companies attending the same training simultaneously is simple but highly effective.

If each business company develops or outsources its own training internally, it may lead to partial optimization but will not align the group's overall operations. Conversely, by sharing the same program across the entire group, conversations, collaboration, and project promotion that span across companies become surprisingly smooth.

The fact that "Project Boost! 1DAY" is a one-day, self-contained program also makes it suitable for joint group implementation. Multi-day training can make it difficult to align the work schedules of group companies, but a single day significantly lowers the hurdle for implementation. With its "short duration, direct practical application, and cross-group" advantages, it becomes a realistic option for organizational development.
