[Club Med] New Beach Resort to Open in Koh Samui, Thailand, Expected in 2028

For over 75 years, Club Med has been offering premium all-inclusive vacations. The company has now signed a Hotel Management Agreement (HMA) with Central Group Capital for a resort development located on the popular tourist island of Koh Samui, Thailand. Through this partnership, "Club Med Koh Samui Thailand" is scheduled to open in late 2028. Club Med Koh Samui will be the second Club Med resort in Thailand, following Club Med Phuket which opened in 1985. As a vibrant beachfront resort embodying the culture and charm of Koh Samui, it will add new vitality to Club Med's portfolio of approximately 70 all-inclusive resorts spanning 25 countries worldwide. This new facility will be Club Med's first Exclusive Collection resort in Thailand and the third in the ESAP (East Asia, South Asia, Pacific) region. Currently, the Exclusive Collection accounts for approximately 13% of Club Med's total portfolio, comprising 21 facilities including six Exclusive Collection resorts, nine resorts with Exclusive Collection spaces, five villas or chalets, and the cruise ship "Club Med 2". The announcement of this new resort was made at Club Med Kiroro Peak in Hokkaido, attended by Club Med CEO Stephan Maquaire, ESAP Regional CEO Rachael Harding, and Mr. Sorawit Chairoj, Managing Partner & Co-Head of Central Group Capital. Club Med CEO Stephan Maquaire stated, "This resort, to be born in the special location of Koh Samui, is an important step in our expansion. Along with new developments in Malaysia Borneo, South Africa, Manado, Indonesia, and Charlevoix, Canada, Club Med is further strengthening its leadership in premium experiential vacations worldwide. Central Group Capital is the fund management division of Central Group, a leading Thai conglomerate. In April 2023, it formed its first fund, raising a total of 10 billion Thai Baht (approximately 300 million US dollars), making it the largest fund of its kind in Thailand. This fund is managed by an experienced investment team and makes selective investments in the hospitality sector, anticipating the recovery of the tourism market, under the leadership of Central Group management. Through such investments, the company aims to support the growth of Thailand's tourism industry and create attractive return opportunities for investors. Club Med Koh Samui will be located on the northern coast, approximately 25 minutes by car from Samui Airport, and is planned to feature 303 rooms. It will have over 200 meters of private beach and offer a variety of sports and beach activities. The redevelopment will also include expanding the number of rooms, stylishly upgrading existing rooms and common areas, introducing new dining concepts, as well as special Club Med services such as kids' clubs offering age-specific programs and the "Amazing Family" program to promote family experiences. The design will incorporate traditional Thai culture and the natural beauty of the island. Development is currently underway for a late 2028 opening, and booking commencement dates will be announced closer to the opening.
