Quality Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, President: Tomohisa Otake), which operates AED Com, will hold the 2nd "AED Senryu Contest" starting July 1, 2026 (Wed) to increase the number of people who can "take the first step when needed."

This contest is a nationwide public call for entries, seeking works in the 5-7-5 syllable format on themes such as the promotion of AEDs, learning about life-saving, and everyday awareness. The first contest received 4,632 entries from across the country. For this second contest, we welcome Rie Yasumi as a special judge, aiming to foster a closer connection with AEDs and life-saving, and to increase the number of people who can take the first step when needed.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a 100,000 yen Amazon gift card and AED-related goods. Five Excellence Award winners and ten Honorable Mention winners will also be selected.

"There are lives that can be saved with words." 17 syllables to make AEDs and life-saving personal. AEDs are installed in familiar places such as stations, schools, commercial facilities, and workplaces.

However, when faced with a real life-saving situation, people may be unable to act due to anxiety or hesitation, such as "I don't know how to use it," "What if I make a mistake?" "I'm worried about what others will think," or "Is it okay for me to use it?" The AED Senryu Contest is an initiative to share insights, learning, hesitations, and courage related to AEDs and basic life support in short verses.

Composing a senryu, or reading someone else's, might lead to being more aware of AED locations, taking a life-saving course, or speaking up when needed.

With the slogan "There are lives that can be saved with words," we aim to broaden the circle of empathy and action towards life-saving.

Message from Special Judge Rie Yasumi Senryu is 5-7-5, "about people." It can express various events around us. I look forward to receiving entries on various topics, such as scenes that come to mind when you hear AED or personal experiences. Don't overthink it; try to express it honestly in your own words. Rie Yasumi Profile After graduating from university, she began her career in senryu. Her senryu on the theme of love resonates with a wide range of generations. Currently, she serves as a judge and supervisor for numerous public senryu contests, while also engaging in activities to convey the charm of words through lectures and workshops across the country. 2nd AED Senryu Contest Outline

Name: 2nd AED Senryu Contest

Application Period: July 1, 2026 (Wed) - August 16, 2026 (Sun) until 23:59

Eligibility: No age or experience requirements. Anyone residing in Japan can apply. *Children in elementary school or younger must have parental consent to apply.

How to Apply: Apply through the dedicated form by entering your senryu, nickname, and email address. You can apply anonymously, and it takes about 3 minutes.

Number of Entries: Up to 3 entries per person.

Prizes: Grand Prize: 1 winner - 100,000 yen Amazon gift card + AED-related goods / Excellence Award: 5 winners - 10,000 yen Amazon gift card / Honorable Mention: 10 winners - 1,000 yen Amazon gift card.

Judging: Special Judge Rie Yasumi, AED Com Editorial Department, and external judges.

Results Announcement: Scheduled for late September 2026. Announced on the AED Com official website and official social media.
