IXC - 3daysofdesign 2026 Exhibition Report

Cassina IXC Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Alessio Giacomel) made its first participation in "3daysofdesign" held in Copenhagen from June 10th to June 12th, 2026, as part of its full-scale expansion of its original brand <IXC> overseas.

At the exhibition "DESIGN / DIALOGUE," curated by the Copenhagen-based design magazine ARK JOURNAL, the company unveiled the sofa "AIR FRAME 3016 SOFT" and the new, unreleased-in-Japan model "OZU."

Additionally, representative products of the brand such as GamFratesi's "PLATO sofa," Shiro Kuramata's "HAL2 chair," and Tadao Ando's "A-CHAIR" were exhibited. Within a spatial composition that blended tranquility and tension, a collection embodying the dialogue between structure and material was presented, proposing new value in contemporary living spaces.

3daysofdesign is one of Northern Europe's largest design events, held throughout Copenhagen, serving as an international platform for brands and designers worldwide. OZU designed by Vico Magistretti

"OZU," designed by Vico Magistretti, is a design conceived in the mid-1980s. Revived for the present day through repeated prototyping and verification, based on original drawings entrusted to and carefully preserved by IXC. Behind it lies an episode involving the exchange between Magistretti and IXC founder Shigenobu Muto, and a deep affection for Japanese cinema. These timeless stories lend a quiet depth to the product's appeal.

OZU is characterized by the clarity of its structure. A cantilevered steel frame supports a seat and backrest softly shaped like cushions, achieving a light yet stable presence. The deliberate separation of the structural frame and upholstered elements embodies Magistretti's structuralist approach seen in this period, reflecting a pursuit of comfort with minimal components. This revival utilizes molded polyurethane, respecting the original concept while meeting contemporary comfort standards.

Through the intersection of a design story passed down through time and meticulous Japanese craftsmanship, "OZU" has been reborn as an object that quietly complements modern life. With its understated yet definite presence, it brings new value to spaces.

AIR FRAME 3016 SOFT sofa designed by David Chipperfield

A new sofa has been added to the popular "AIR FRAME" series designed by architect David Chipperfield, featuring soft seat cushions. While retaining the aluminum honeycomb panel structure that combines strength and lightness, and the sharp, modern form with defined edges, it offers a richer seating experience.

The minimalist frame, stripped down to its essentials, is layered with generous cushions, creating a beautiful contrast between the precision of the structure and the softness that embraces the body.
