Enalys Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Goro Suzuki; hereafter "Enalys") announces that it has been awarded the contract to operate the "Aso Battery Storage Project" (hereafter "the Project") promoted by Miki Kogyo Co., Ltd. (hereafter "Miki Kogyo"). The Project, jointly applied for a lease with Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company, Limited (hereafter "SMFL"), has been selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's FY Reiwa 7 (2025) subsidy for "Promoting the Introduction of Renewable Energy and Power Storage Systems such as Grid-scale Batteries," administered by the Sustainable open Innovation Initiative (SII), and aims to commence operations in December 2027. The Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.'s vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) to be used in this project features "long life," "high safety," and "excellent recyclability." As an aggregator, Enalys will leverage its advanced control technology to maximize the superior characteristics of these VRFBs, aiming to build a sustainable grid-scale battery model that balances power grid stabilization with the expansion of renewable energy. Enalys has participated in METI's VPP demonstration projects since 2016, building systems to control and utilize distributed energy resources like batteries. In 2018, Enalys developed its proprietary Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS). To expand the use of distributed resources, Enalys offers DERMS as a SaaS and provides electricity trading agency services using DERMS. In this Project, Enalys will undertake operational agency services, appropriately utilizing multiple markets (JEPX, supply-demand adjustment market, capacity market), and provide comprehensive support for grid-scale battery operation, including DERMS SaaS, electricity sales agency, and operational consulting. Through the operation of this Project, Enalys will contribute to the goals of Miki Kogyo and SMFL: "expanding the introduction of renewable energy and stabilizing the regional power grid."
