Three ECLECT Washi Items to 'Touch and Experience' in a Zen Temple Space

■ Washi Polo Shirt

A lightweight, dry-textured polo shirt made from a hybrid material containing 46% washi paper. It features a linen-like crispness and moisture-regulating/absorbing functions due to the porous structure unique to washi, keeping the inside of the garment comfortable even in sweaty seasons.

The most meticulous attention was paid to the design of the 'collar,' which determines the impression around the face. The size balance was adjusted in millimeter increments, and the interlining provides moderate stiffness and self-supporting ability, achieving a form that is neither too casual nor too formal. Signature embroidery in a thread color matching the body is applied to the chest, adding a delicate luster that emerges depending on the angle of light, lending dignity to everyday wear.

Colors: Cotton Color / Black. Sizes: M / L (Unisex). Price: 27,500 yen (tax included).

■ Washi Open-Collar Shirt

A garment made by combining domestic washi yarn 'Biwashi' with Belgian linen, with weaving, dyeing, and washing all finished in Hamamatsu, one of Japan's leading textile production areas. The rare combination of 25% washi and 75% linen achieves both a paper-like crispness and a soft, firm feel that gently follows the body.

The key design feature is its 2-way specification, which allows for a neat look when the top button is fastened. The 'facing' of the collar is carefully designed to prevent the inside of the fabric from being seen and looking untidy when worn open. Glossy shell-like buttons add a sophisticated contrast to the matte washi-linen fabric.

Colors: White / Ink Black. Sizes: M / L (Unisex). Price: 27,500 yen (tax included).

■ Washi Knit Beret

A knit beret proposed as a new option for summer headwear. The material, blended with 31% Mino washi paper, is extremely lightweight and breathable. Thanks to the deodorizing and sweat-absorbing effects inherent to washi, it prevents stuffiness even during long wear and maintains a clean feel.

Knitted with a moderate thickness of 7 gauge, it resists losing its shape while also achieving the supple drape characteristic of knits. The design focuses on a highly versatile form that suits any gender or face shape, allowing for different expressions depending on the angle it is worn. The natural texture created by the tone-on-tone heather yarn blends well with a wide range of styles, from casual to mode.

Colors: Greige / Navy. Size: Free (Unisex). Price: 7,700 yen (tax included).

Q. How did you feel when it was decided that ECLECT would exhibit at '。、Ten 2026' in Kyoto?

A. We are deeply honored to be able to showcase ECLECT products at Komyo-in, a historic place known for its beautiful gardens. This special space, imbued with Japanese traditional culture, deeply resonates with the spirit we value in our manufacturing. Our hearts are racing at the thought of the new values and encounters that can only be born in this place.

Q. What are the particular points of focus for the three washi items you are presenting this time?

A. In a word, it is the 'pursuit of ultimate comfort.' ECLECT's theme is 'clothes that can be worn for 10 years,' and we have thoroughly focused not only on beautiful silhouettes and modern design but also on the 'material' itself, which is the key to clothing. This season, we have narrowed down our materials to 'washi,' which is said to have a thousand-year history in Japanese culture, and are producing our items. Washi, which has been a part of daily life since ancient times, possesses reliable functionalities that make modern life comfortable, such as moisture regulation, deodorization, antibacterial properties, and UV protection. We hope you will feel this material, packed with the wisdom of our ancestors, on your skin.

Q. What kind of experience do you hope visitors will have in the space of Komyo-in in Kyoto?

A. We hope that visitors will immerse themselves in the beautiful, atmospheric space of Komyo-in and, at the same time, have the opportunity to deeply connect with Japanese traditional crafts and artisan skills through the works of the wonderful artists and brands exhibiting. We would be delighted if both domestic and international visitors could enjoy with all five senses the moment when traditions passed down over long periods merge with contemporary culture.

Future Outlook: ECLECT's Challenge of Harmonizing Diverse Individualities

With the concept of 'Individuality and Harmony,' ECLECT has been developing items that allow each person to enjoy their own choices, primarily through e-commerce.

This exhibition at Komyo-in in Kyoto is a valuable opportunity to experience the brand's worldview, which is usually only encountered online, in a real space where tradition and the future intersect. We will continue our manufacturing that incorporates the memories of the land while fitting into modern lifestyles, collaborating with washi paper and production areas across Japan.

ECLECT will continue to promote new initiatives as a brand that proposes 'the joy of wearing your own self' across age, gender, and culture, by selecting diverse materials including washi.
